December 17, 200223 yr ActiveSky wxRE downloads fine. In ActiveSky wxRE's textbox, I read that my location (KDSM) has BRoken OVerCast 7000 and visibility is 25 miles. However, this information (wxd file shows up in D:ActiveSky wxRE OK) is not being communicated to FS2002 which is showing clear, unlimited visibility.I tried quiting FS2002 restarting FS and clearing wx. No help. Probably something easy... I hope! I really did read all the start up advisories!LarryBTW, I also experience out of cockpit screen distortion when I task switch to the ActiveSky wxRE window from FS2002. The fix which works is to Alt +Enter followed by Alt+ Enter again with the FS2002 window selected first. Out of cockpit display clears up immediately.
December 17, 200223 yr I just finished terminating both Active Sky and FS2002.I then restarted FS2002 and shortly thereafter FS RUN OPtions started Active SKY RE. This time the winds and clouds were properly reported and seen within FS2002 both out of cockpit and in the WX interface page. One clue: When I shut down FS2002 previously, ActiveSKYRE was killed by FS Run Options and then I had to manually kill what I think was another instance of ActiveSkyRE. I wish I would have looked at the task list first. Darn.Does ActivSkyRE check to see if an instance of itself is already running before it fires Application.Run?For what it's worth.Larry
December 17, 200223 yr How long are you waiting for the weather to set up? From my experiences it can take more than a minute (sometimes several minutes) for everything to set up and be displayed. There have been a few other posts recently where people described similar problems. Essentially, load up the airport and wait a few minutes before giving up. Also try refreshing active sky especially if you change airports. Lastly, you can use the website www.awfulweather.com to find airports with confirmed bad weather for testing things. Not sure if this will help but it turned out to be my problem...Brewmaster
December 18, 200223 yr I should think the program should check for running instances of itself. FS Run Options seems to work. I must have started one copy of Active WX and FS Run Option started another.Brew,I think you hit one of my problems. I simply wasn't waiting long enough for the "new" weather to "transition" in. It is desirable that coming from "no weather" (cleared WX in FS2002) to any weather, should be a slow transition. I just flew with it and all seems to be working fine now.All is well for now. Great little program and priced decently too!Larry
December 18, 200223 yr I cleared WX from FS2002 menu, World, Weather. Then tuned up the local ATIS.ATIS report rapidly sequenced through report Xray, skipped Yankee and Zulu and Alpha, reported Bravo Charlie and finally Delta which matched the textbox from ActiveSkywx. Six different reports in just a few minutes. All the time the visibility was going from unlimited to 3/4 of a mile. (Des Moines, IA today 8:15 PM 12-17-02). NEAT effect!I just wasn't waiting long enough. It would be nice that on startup the current weather is "forced". Maybe there's a way to do that now and I just don't know it.I guess all my problems are little ones.Larry
December 18, 200223 yr Remember, there is a lot of "stuff" being generated in that first minute or so. Give everything time and thing will catch up. Glad you enjoy the program. During the next round of testing I wiil try to bring up the "double start" issue, if it hasn't been noted.
