OffLine Files and "QUIT" button

Featured Replies

Only used wxRE twice, but I really like this program. 1)Don't really understand the downloads for offline flying. If I hit auto download, does that load the current wx for the ICAO's I loaded? Do I remane the file, ie KORD-KJFK ? Then, can I fly that route later with the wx that was downloaded? Will that file work with the same wx if I file ie MKC-DEN? 2) When finished, I click the "QUIT" button and nothing happens. So I click it again, and nothing, so I click the "x" and nothing happens. A minute or so later, it closes. Is that normal?Looking forward to the next addtions. louross.

Hey Lou,Maybe I can jump in here as I do mostly offline flying. What you want to do is DESELECT the "Use System Time..." box in the Options window (although that isn't strictly necessary, but you'll get more realistic results if you do and you are flying offline at times other than your system time - sigh, read the docs for a clearer understanding than what I'm giving you here on that :-) ). Then, again in the Options window, you'll see a box marked "UTC Hour for Download" Type the hour for the time you want in there in GMT time (for e.g., if you are in Bergen Norway, and you want the local noon time, type in "11" (without quotes) in that box as GMT is behind by 1 hour to Bergen). Then (when online) click "Auto-download and Create New" and it will get you the weather for that time period/hour. Now you can go offline again. If you will want to use that wx later in the week, rename it so that you don't accidentally overwrite it (you will probably have to rename it again back to the original name before you can use it). That's it! Go load FS and AS, and go flying (if the wx isn't below minima that is :-) ).Now, most often the reason the program isn't closing right away on you is because it is still updating. When you close FS (assuming you close it before AS), then AS will update itself to a distant airport that is installed by default. During that time it is reading and processing it's data, and will not respond to keystrokes/commands until finished. Check to make sure it is saying that the processing is finished before you select other options (I won't tell you how I found that one out :-) ).Hope that helps, and if Damian (or any of the beta testers) correct any of this here - go by what they say. I'm still fairly new to the program (but LOVE it!!).Glenn

Thanks for the help, Glenn.:-wave lr.

My pleasure :-). Have a good one!Glenn
