AI textures disappearing?

Featured Replies

hiho! bought wxRE yesterday and like it so far (didn't have much time yet to test). So far, there is just one issue I found: with wxRE running many of my AI airctaft lose their textures?!?! They turn black. However, the textures are only sort of suppressed because if I am in chase view und pan around my aircraft, then the AI textures show up from time to time. funny, um? It is defintely attributable to wxRE since this behaviour is gone as soon as I close wxRE. System: AMD 1700 XP, 512 MB DDR, ASUS A7V, Geforce4 MX 440, latest Detonator 41.x.CheersPhilCome to DAD!http://www.dangerous-airports.com/images/dad_logo.jpg

Hmmnn, now that's interesting. Coming down final at CYYZ the other day (a late dusk landing), my scenery textures turned black all around the airport. I could still see some trees standing out, but otherwise any non-runway/paved surface went completely black. I've not ever seen that before, so I'm wondering if we have some commonality here? The airport was all default stuff, no 3rd party scenery there. Maybe worth keeping an eye out for this to see if it pops up again...Glenn

To both posters:See if this is happening during a weather update. Are your frame rates locked? Remember that FS by nature will start to drop textures if it cannot keep up. If this happens again, pause FS and watch the screen to see if the textures will "pop" into place. Also keep in mind that any AI planes cause a frame hit, but some are better than others.Edit: Also remember that any MX card is not designed for heavy FS use.

hi JSkorna, will keep that in mind. but again, so far this behaviour was completely attributable to wxRE because it can bee seen when wxRE is running. also, the textures are not really gone (somehow) but disappear anyway. will have a look and come back, if needed...CheersPhilCome to DAD!http://www.dangerous-airports.com/images/dad_logo.jpg

Thanks for the ideas here. I'll keep an eye out to see if it happens again and if the wx is updating. I am getting some heavy-duty stutters with updates, but haven't noticed anything else that is awry (my other post about the ground disappearing turned out to be more a problem with how I had FSSE set up).I do think I've got the "go juice" to run everything with little or no problem, admittedly. My video is a MSI GeForce TI4400 (128 MB RAM), and my CPU is a PIV 2.26 GHz with 512 MB DDR RAM. I also have the fps' locked at 20. This isn't something I'm getting too excited about just yet. If it starts to happen on a frequent basis, then it will something worth tracking down, but up until now (on me) it has only happened once, and it was right as dusk was turning to night, so who knows - maybe something there which would have nothing to do with AS. Anyway, we'll see. Thanks for the input. If it happens again, I'll make some notes.Glenn
