Airspeed Fluctuating

Featured Replies

I've noticed that when flying the airspeed fluctuates allot. This never happened before and I've got heat and ice protection on. Does anyone know what might be causing this? Maybe a setting in the FSUIPC module?Doug

Hi DougMy guess would be light turbulence. Try to uncheck the turbulence options in FSUIPC and see if that changes your airspeed behaviour!Hope it helps

Yepper Doug, that's turbulence alright :-). I had one bone-jarring 2 hour ride in an Aztec at 11,000 feet coming down the length of Vancouver Island (Canada) yesterday that was so brutal I had to turn off the Alt Hold on the autopilot and hold the thing at altitude myself. I've had REAL flights like that too! I turned down the setting to a max turbulence of 2 in FSUIPC, but it didn't seem to help much. Anyway, not to worry - what you see is not a bad simulation of turbulence in FS2002.Glenn

Hi Glenn,You might want to try turning down the turbulence index in your FS2002.cfg file. Look for an entry called "TurbulenceScale=" in the .cfg file and try a setting of .2 or .3 (default is 1.0). Several people (including a few real-life pilots) have said that .2 is a more realistic setting, and they feel FS2k2's default setting is way too high. Hope your next flight is a bit more smooth. :)~ AndyMA825/KSFO (Meridian VA)kZAU ARTCC

Hey, thanks Andy,I too am a real world pilot and feel that this is a rather exaggerated part of FS2002 for sure. I've had a few flights that were as rough as the one the other day, but not nearly as many as I get in FS2002. I'll fix that up tonight. Appreciate the help.Glenn

Hello,Thanks for the tip!!...To be sure: you tell us to set the value .2 or .3You mean 2.000000 and 3.000000?If I choose for .2 ...is it like this:"TurbulenceScale=2.000000"?...just incase ;)Bestvortovor

the 2 or 3)Example: "TurbulenceScale=.2"If you put the decimal after the 2 or 3, the turbulence will be even stronger...Good luck!~ Andy
