First full flight with As2k4 experience

Featured Replies

After doing some tweaking with As2k4 yesterday, I did a full setup for my scheduled flight form KCLT->KPHX. I flew offline with Radar Contact running, and FSW clouds installed. The flight went as smoothly as I used to get with AS 1.9(2); but with a seemingly better weather presentation. I watched a small frontal system appear/develop in front of me as I was about 200 NM out of KPHX:http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/53746.jpgI have my FPS locked at 17, and I didn't notice much draw-down until I got to KPHX (typically due to AI aircraft). But I did start getting whipped around by winds a little bit as I was decsending into Phoenix and the Pressure seemed to yo-yo too. I had the plan imported with wind smoothing activated. As far as frames and clouds go, the Cloud Draw distance has the biggest impact on my system. With all other weather display settings maxed, the diff. between a draw distance of 40 and 50 miles is quite acceptable to slide-show city, respectively. I've also noticed that dark clouds impact frames much more than light clouds - I wonder why that would be?On another note, I have yet to see the Overcast Enhancement work. Yesterday I was flying in snowy weather and the vis was very low at the airfield - looked great. But as I climbed above the clouds/snow, I could see the ground quite well - no overcast layer or fog bank.Cheers,

Did another flight from KPHX-KMSP. I turned off wind smoothing in AS2k2 and turned on wind and pressure smoothing in FSUIPC. I seemed to have a much smoother approach as far as wind shifting and pressure yo-yo-ing are concerned.
