activesky and auto throttle acting up

Featured Replies

DamianI just had to post this to set the record straight. I posted yesterday that since installing activesky I was experiencing problems with the auto throttle not working properly and suddenly going haywire during flight. I have been able to correct the problem as just before installing activesky I updated my ATI 9800 pro card to the new 3.10 driver. BY uninstalling the new driver and going back to the old the problem has been rectified. seems the 3.10 driver has a problem with activesky. I would be interested to find out if any else has experienced this problem using an ATI 9800 pro card and the new driver. Since changing the driver I am happy to say that I am now flying according to FAA guidelines and no longer breaking the sound barrier under 10,000 ft.Don:-jumpy

Don,Thanks for the update and the hint.JimActiveSky Support

Hi Don,I hope you don't mind my butting in here on a slightly off-topic issue, but I too have a Radeon 9800 256 card, and am thinking of switching back to the NVidia card of some description. This is primarily because that while Radeon appears (from all accounts) to deliver better graphics, their drivers seem to have one issue after another when it comes to flight simulator and its addons, and when one thing gets fixed, another gets broken. I switched to the Omega drivers and have had very few issues with it, but that was to be a temporary fix until the Catalyst drivers got the bugs with FS worked out. From reading your post, it would appear as though this isn't happening, and perhaps some things are even getting worse. I've not heard of any problems with the NVidia cards since the first few weeks of the release of FS9. Can you comment on what you have found with the updated Catalyst drivers, especially as to how it interacts with AS2 and FS9?Thanks very much Don,Glenn

GlennWell to tell you the truth I have been pretty pleased with the Radeon card and have only had a couple of issues with it and CF9 and how they relate to each other These have been well documented since CF9 was released. From what I hear its not all ATI's fault and as I usually fly in the window mode anyways I have not experienced the imaging problems in the full view mode. My experience with driver 3.10 however was that after I installed activesky that my auto throttle control on my aircraft would cut out it seemed as I went thru different wind layers or switch weather stations , the plane would excellerate at max throttle. most of the time turning auto throttle off and on would solve the problem but not always. At First I thought it was a problem with activesky however since reverting back to driver 3.9 all is right again in mud ville and auto throttle is fine again. Why this is I have no idea, for the time being Im just going to stay with 3.9 and enjoy Damian's new creation.Don:)
