January 10, 200422 yr Hi,Can someone explain to me why at PAAQ where is was snowing a few minutes ago, Active Sky only shows it snowing from one direction? ie if I turn away from the snow it stops.Keith
January 10, 200422 yr Keith,Never have seen or heard of this before. Let's keep a look out OK? If you turned back did the snow start again?Hope this helps,JimActiveSky Support
January 11, 200422 yr Hi Jim,What happened was the MAETAR showed heavy snow, but at the parking position there was no snow in front of the plane. However in the side view the snow was falling. Changing to the virtual view the snow again only fell in the right view. From the spot view there was snow, then it stopped as the camera finished panning. Moving the plane and turning right - ie towards the snow it gradualy came into view and continued to snow, turning left ie away from the snow and it stopped but was still snowing in the right view.I have FS2002 Pro. I did check with the default weather and if you set snow up it snows all around. I didn't check with the FS real weather feature.Any ideas? When it rains it rains all around - just the snow that seems a bit strange.Keith
January 11, 200422 yr It may be a FS bug where precip doesn't show correctly. In FS04 there is a circle around your plane where no snow falls at all, like you are inside a bubble.Hope this helps,JimActiveSky Support
January 11, 200422 yr Jim,Thanks. Not sure about FS04 as I have FS02. However at PABT it is snowing, so I thought I 'd try again. This time I did not have the disappearing snow effect. It continued to snow all around, even in virtual mode. Taking off and completing a circuit (pattern to you guys) it still snowed all around. So I really don't know what happended before.I must say the snow effect is very good. At the moment I am enjoying Active Sky a lot. There is one question please. Once you start Active Sky do you minimise it or leave it open when you start FS? The reason I ask is I sometimes get a crash when moving from one to the other. That is when I change airports - say from EGKK (Gatwick) to EGLL (Heathrow). Keith
January 11, 200422 yr Keith,Really doesn't matter. If I am troubleshooting I leave it open. Otherwise I minimize it to the taskbar. Do you get this crash without AS running?Hope this helps,JimActiveSky Support
January 12, 200422 yr Jim,No the crash only happend when Active Sky was running. It seems to ok when I move airports, come out of FS and click refresh in ActiveSky. With the current Server problem it seems to hang for afew minutes, then I get the standard XP message about a non responsive program. It has happened three times in total. Prior to ActiveSky FS never crashed (Planes did though!)I assume once this server / winds aloft thing is resolved it will be ok.So to get this clear in my mind, I can either start AS or FS, and to access AS it does not matter whther I minimise FS or use Alt& Tab?And I can either leave AS running or minimise it?Yes?Keith
January 12, 200422 yr 1. XP thinks it is timed out, but AS really keeps running with no winds aloft.2. Correct.3. AS running or minimizing it are the same thing. AS running means you can see the main window on your desktop. Minimizing it means that it is still running, but on the taskbar. Some users run FS in windowed mode and adjust stuff so that their desktop is filled with "things"(AS,GPS, ect.)Hope this helps,JimActiveSky Support
