January 17, 200422 yr I was doing a flight from EDDF to Bucharest, Romania.I hit the minimum weather defaults option in FSUIPC and then loaded ActiveSky. I then loaded my flight plan in ActiveSky.The weather at Frankfurt wasEDDF 161050Z 20009KT 9999 -RA FEW006 BKN017 BKN022 04/04 Q0996 RERA NOSIGI was getting clear skies overhead with cloudy skies all around in the distance. I should have had heavy clouds and rain as i am 1m from the station. I switched to 122.00 frequency and the voice said i should be having rain etc. etc. basically what is in the METAR above. When i tuned to ATIS it read the weather i was actually experiencing. When i loaded up the Active Radar i looked at the destination weather on there and it matched my current weather i.e. partly cloudy skies, wind at 6 from 260 etc.I then closed ActiveSky and cleared everything using FSUIPC. I loaded up ActiveSky. I let it set the weather in FS (i did not load flight plan)and then looked in FS and found the weather looked the same as before. I then hit the refresh button and FS depicted the departure weather, i.e. it was raining. I then loaded the flight plan in ActiveSky, the clouds changed a little but it was still raining and looked correct.I then closed ActiveSky, cleared all weather, reloaded it (not the flight plan and got the destination weather again. I then loaded the flight plan and got the departure weather back (i.e. it was raining)!I closed it all again, cleared everything again, loaded up ActiveSky (no flight plan) and this time i had the departure weather.I have the unregistered version of FSUIPC.Strange, looks an intermittent problem. This has happened a few times. I am using the alpha patch. When this happens, i just close ActiveSky, clear all weather and open it again and sometimes it works fine then. Here are my settingsKeep up the good work guys,Hope this helps...//AS2004 configuration file[General]WindowPosX = 1995WindowPosY = 1755DefaultWeatherFolder = D:FS2004ModulesActiveSky2004SuppressionCeiling = 2000SurfaceWindLimit = 10CloudLayerLimit = 5LocalSuppressionRange = 60OnlineUpdates = TrueExtendedDestinationWindsForce = FalseGlobalWrites = TrueVoicePlayback = TrueLocalSuppression = TrueStartupSound = FalseUseProxyServer = FalseFogLayerGeneration = TrueUpdateSuppression = TrueOvercastEnhancement = FalseRouteWindSmoothing = TrueLimitSurfaceWinds = FalseLimitCloudLayers = TrueDisableUpperLayerGeneration = FalseVisibilitySmoothing = TrueDisableMessages = FalseAutoTimeZoneDetection = TrueUpdateInterval = 25VATSIMData = FalseZuluConversion = 0TAFProcessing = FalseWakeTurb = TrueStartPaused = FalseUseSystemTime = TrueDisableCAVOKClouds = FalseProxyAddress = NONE
January 17, 200422 yr San,Thanks. I can do the same thing. Damian and I have been back and forth a few times about this. Next time instead of closing AS see if hitting the Refresh button will kick things back into place.Hope this helps,JimActiveSky Support
January 18, 200422 yr I never had this problem originally, however the last 2 flights it has been a problem. The weather will not change even if refresh is used. The weather will change however as I start to taxi the aircraft toward the active runway. I have noticed that the AS2004 weather details even pop up on the screen with the correct weather, (snow 1000 foot ceiling) however the destination weather (in this case rain, wind 800 foot ceiling continued to be displayed.I only one change to my settings over this time. Latest version of FSUIPC was installed v3.14. Odd.John HaleyThunder Bay Canada
January 19, 200422 yr I did a couple more flights yesterday and find hitting refresh normally does the trick. Sometimes you have to hit it 3 or 4 times before you get the correct departure weather.Yesterday i did a flight from LA to Phoenix. The weather for LA was meant to be overcast but i had clear skies with a batch of cloud in the distance (basically Phoenix weather). I hit refresh a couple of times and it then changes to LA weather. It was not overcast though, there were chunks of blue sky. I hit refresh a couple more times and got complete overcast with low visibility (which was the weather in LA).I have to say from there on ActiveSky was simply awesome. The overcast clouds looked great. I took off and climbed into the murky clouds. As i climbed above the overcast layer the visibility began to increase smoothly. Absolutely awesome!
