February 5, 200422 yr I was wondering if it would be possible to display on the fs screen(aircrafts location) the weather reported at the "nearest reporting point" When flying a route today the weather was much different on the screen that reported at nearest reporting point. That is the weather we are making reference to so it would be nice to see that on the screen rather than all this mobo jumbo about transitions and smoothing etc.ThanksRon
February 6, 200422 yr I mean the actual weather conditions as viewed from the plane. (clouds) As a example flying too Kansas City the conditions at KC were snow (vis 1/2 mi and 800 ceiling) The reporting point (St Joe) were not quite as bad. I was between the two and I could see the ground clearly with about 50% clouds. Where I was I would say the ceiling appeared to look unlimited. Is it my settings or something I am doing wrong. I know this may be talked about on other posts but may not be explained this way. (the way I understand) The distance between St Joe and KC is not much only 40 miles.ThanksRon
February 6, 200422 yr The actual reporting station has a direct influence of two miles. After that, AS uses a complex series of computations. 50% clouds cannot have an unlimited ceiling and if you were half way between KC and St. Joe's this could have been realistic. The best we can report is the closest weather station conditions in AS and by using the text bar in FS. Hope this helps,JimActiveSky Support
February 6, 200422 yr Thanks as that does explain most of my question taking the 2 mi thing into consideration.Ron
