February 14, 200422 yr On initial descent out of FL350 for FL240 while approaching KSFO the winds were 272@97. The winds shifted to 260@97 and next I watched as the wind direction cycled slowly (one degree at a time) from 260 around to 272 - but they cycled counter-clockwise!All-n-all, the autopilot smoothly compensated for the change and there was no violent reaction to this by the aircraft. It was just strange to see the winds cycle 260 - 250 - 240 - 230 ... 110 ... 100 ... 050 ... 040 ... all the way around and back to 272.BTW: The cloud generation on descent below 12000 to ~7000 was absolutely incredible. Thick broken cumulus and when I leveled at 6000 I was skimming the bottoms. Off to my right (looking towards San Jose) it was a low overcast. Off to my left (looking towards the SF Bay) it was higher scattered. As I flew over the bay on final visibility dropped down to about 5 miles - very smooth visibility and approach winds transition.-michael
