February 15, 200422 yr Having the troubles I had with cloud pops, I decided to disable the local range supression to see what would happen. The result is that the cloud pops went away. When AS2004 would update, you could notice some changes in the cloud formations, but nothing drastic like disappearing clouds. It made for a much smoother flight, at least in my opinion. I put my update interval at 30 minutes.Scott
February 15, 200422 yr Thanks again Scott, but now watch for something else: If during your 30 minute update the METAR you are currently flying in changes dramaticly those changes will immediatly show up in FS.Hope this helps,JimActiveSky Support
February 15, 200422 yr When flying in OFFLINE mode (no online updates)do the local range suppression and update suppression options matter? During a flight, is AS2004 still writing data to FSUIPC when in OFFLINE mode?I know you get the scrolling metar reports when in OFFLINE mode. Are these just simple text writes or is data being transmitted to FSUIPC when these reports scroll accross the screen in OFFLINE mode.Would also appreciate a little more explanantion on the Global Writes Toggle option. If this option is checked and the other Global Writes option is checked, what is happening? Should both be checked or just one or the other? I recall that GLOBal writes only occur once when on the ground. What, then, is the Global Write Toggle doing? What weather data is AS2004 using when it writes to the GLOBal station? At one point I recall AS2004 was using destination weather for GLOBal writes. Is this still true? Thanks
February 15, 200422 yr Not being the programmer I'll do my best here! In Offline Mode local range supression and update supression are not used as far as I know.Especially on long flights data is still being sent to FSUIPC. I believe we are sending data in a 200 mile radius from AS to FSUIPC.GW Toggle allows AS to determine whether or not to use global writes. If this is ON then Global Writes should be OFF. If Global Writes is ON then this overrides the toggle setting.Yes its the destination weather that is being used just as before.Hope this helps,JimActiveSky Support
February 15, 200422 yr Jim,I run AS2004 in offline mode because my flights are usually at times other than the current time.So are you saying I don't need update supression or ceiling suppression enabled if I'm flying offline. AS2004 still updates in offline mode.Scott
