Active Sky crashing FS9 with WideFS

Featured Replies

Hi, When I connect AS to FS, via WideFS, FS is crashing. The weather is getting set, and either just before, or just after, the green banner with the weather scrolls across the FS screen, FS blows up.I am using the recent release, with the latest, paid, versions of FSUIPC and WideFS.I have had this program since Wednesday, and I just can't get it to work. It won't install, so I have to do some things manually. I can't get the Radar screen to give me any weather.Despite the claims of the developers that is works with WideFS, I am beginning to doubt it. Is anybody using it sucessfully in this setup?Steve

Steve,It does work or hundreds of users would be posting that it doesn't work. You have e-mailed, I explained my situation and Damian's, you have posted here a number of times today and yet you doubt it works. If you don't want to wait for help, then install everything on one machine. Please be patient and someone will be able to help. I'm sorry that I can't do more for you.Hope this helps,JimActiveSky Support

Jim,I am prepared to wait, but it was you who suggested that I also post on this forum, and that is what I have done.I look forward to a response from Damian.Steve

Steve,I'm not a AS spokesman, I'm a user and I have AS2004 working perfectly on my second PC using WideFS (registerd version and registerd FSUIPC). You don't give much information to allow anyone to see what might be happening with your set up. Is widefs itself working ? Can you interface other programmes on your second pc for example? If WideFs is working properly I can't see why AS2004 isn't.If you have more information on your set up and what exactly is happening someone may be able to shed some more light on your problem.Keith Cocker

Keith,Thanks for your response. Good to know that it does work.I have registered versions of FSUIPC and WideFS, latest versions. I am running XP Prof on both PCs. I am using the recent maintenance release of AS.I assume that WideFS is working fine, as I have other apps using it ok. For example, I have AVC/Roger Wilco & squawkbox on my non-FS PC, and it all works fine. The first problem was when I installed. I ran through all the required steps up to when I executed ActiveRadarConnector2.exe, residing on WideFS client, on FS/WideFS server.I got the message: Verifying AS2004 Link...OK Verifying FS2004 ActiveRadar Installation...Failed Verifying Registry Entries...OK .....Although ActiveRadar.dll and an empty ActiveRadar directory had been created in my FS Modules directory. I had the root of the drive of my non-FS PC shared and mapped.First time I tried it, when I got active radar up, the flight sim just freezes. As soon as I went into situation mode, it did not hang, but just stoped. The menus work, but no sim commands work, the rain out of the cockpit stops in mid-air. If I shut the radar down, or change mode, it is all ok again. I narrowed this down to one of the option switches, which if I leave unchecked it worked ok.But, this only worked the first time. Subsequent attempts have resulted in no radar display. When I load the flight plan, the tracking screen shows no weather, and no waether in situation mode. Active Sky is setting the weather ok, but Active Radar can't do anything with it.And then last night, it was killing FS, but I have had look here, and I tried deleting my FS config file, and that appears to have stopped this.As a temporary measure, I now have AS running on my FS machine, so FSUIPC and FS appear to be set up ok. I had a look at the FSUIPC log, and stuff is getting sent. Any help would be appreciated.Steve

Does this help. It sounds as though your problem is with the Radar Element (which I don't use although it does install and work fineon my system - I prefer the Reality XP Gauge)http://forums.avsim.net/dcboard.php?az=sho...g_id=7617&page=
