Flightplan won't show up in Radar....

Featured Replies

I just bought ActiveSky and also patched it with the latest build. Installation went all smooth. I am able to a flightplan without a problem and also the print looks fine. I carefully adjusted all settings in FS9 and in my reg. FSUIPC. However, the flightplan doesn't show in the Radar Screen in FS.In a previous thread I read that this issue could rely to my FSNAV built plans. So I loaded them and immediately saved it again in FS, as suggested. No luck. Is there a workaround or will future builds make FSNAV plans compatible to ActiveSky?Any ideas are most appreciated!!Thank you, Sam

Hi Sam,I am using FSNavigator flight plans with AS2004, as suggested I save my Fsnavigator flight plans in FS2004 format. In fsnavigator I export the plan to FS004, then go to the flight planner in fs2004 and load the flight I just made and save it overwritting the Fsnavigator format. Then load the plan into AS2004 (import plan), then open active radar and load your plan via the plannig tab and then hit the update button which is on the same page. Yes a work around till Damian can find another way. You also have to go into the options tab in the radar gauge and make sure met file generation is selected and all other things related. I am not sure on these as I have not read the manual. Are you using A WIDEFS setup? If so manually copy the active radar folder and the related active radar .dll over to your FS2004 module folder and overwrite these (make a back up these just in case). If you run AS2004 on the same machine as your FS, try reinstalling the patch and AS2004. Or with both these setups (widefs and this one) you could also delete your FSUIPC.configuration file found in the FS2004 modules folder and let it rebuild itself when FS2004 loads. Make sure you still have the most recent FSUIPC.DLL file in place. You will have to reset your settings in FSUIPC again so if you want make a backup. For some reason when the program installed itself all the files needed or needed to be updated never did. AS2004 and the radar gauge are not talking to each other.hope this helps and get back to me on how you made out. Some more specs on on your setup will help us out.Vincent

Dear VincentWell, this helped me out indeed! Very nice of you to explain me so detailed! Thank you so very much!I followed your instructions once more and I assume it did work. In the planning window of the Radar I can see all NAV's now. I then pressed the update button, but there was no comment afterwards, like "update completed" or "update ok". I think this is still ok, is it?May I ask if the "wx report and nav log" window can be closed while using the Radar? As I use so many addons I'd like to close or minimize the one I can. A bunch of thanks and have a great sunday!Sam, LSZH

Good morning Sam,When loading a plan,That is good news to see the navs are showing up, the confirmation that things are working are when after you hit the update button- all of you navs should turn white (after a minute or so), then you know for sure AS2004 and the radar gaugr are talking to each other. You should then see data in the situation and tracking window. I hope this is the case.If you do not load a plan,You will also know that things are working when you are in an area that is raining or snowing and after you turn the radar gauge on (1 minute or so), you should see radar returns. You have to be careful when choosing an area to check because the metear may be drifting snow , which may not show up on the radar or something similar for rain may not show up.Yes Sam, you pretty much can do whatever you like now, the choice is yours: The only decision now is to decide what you want to get out of the radar gauge to help you with your flight. You can even turn off the radar gauge and turn it back on , which still retains the data of your flight. What I do is,-open the radar gauge.-go to the planning page and open the flight, then hit the update button.-then hit the modes key, and then hit situation because I want to see radar returns. You can then set up this window if you like a larger radar return window, but like you I have many addons so I hit the red arrow key on the radar gauge to make everything smaller( if you are in windowed mode and you hit the red arrow key the radar gauge may jump off the screen no where to be found but if you go into full screen mode it should be there for you) I usually set up AS2004 in full screen mode, I then push the radar button which appears on this page to see returns, I then set up this page to my taste. -I have the sidewinder, so I assigned the CTL+F12 button to a button to open and close the radar gauge. If you have something to assign it to through one of your addons, then go for it.Let me know if the plan is turnning white for you to verify things are working, I may be out of ideas but maybe Jim can help you out.Hope this helpsVincent

Hi Sam,Vincent did such a great job that I waited for him to respond first, thanks Vincent!Sam, you can go ahead and close any open windows and just leave AS running. Hope this helps,JimActiveSky Support

Hi Jim,Thanks for the warm comments but all of my knowledge comes from people like you on these forums working together trying to solve problems. The rewards are great not to just take information but to take the time to help others out. Thanks for your continued support. I am glad Damian may have found a bug that might get rid of the cloud pops for me and I will stop repeating myself about if I continuously update AS2004 that I get less cloud pops. This idea of mine never really will solve my cloud pops but what Damian is doing will. He must be exhausted from his detective work. Great Job!!!Jim, we just have to wait for Sam to reply or if he doesn't, we will assume things are working correctly. I may be out of ideas to help though. Edit: It does make a little bit of sense of what I was saying, to continually update AS2004, which would mean eventually one write to FSUIPC would get written correctly along the way , hence less cloud pops. I new something was up but I do not have the programming skills like Damian to find the real problem.ThanksVincent

Dear Vincent and JimYep! Thank you very much! I think I got it all right now! As my plans are all created with FSNav I will have to open them with the FS Planner and resave it. That's not a problem as I have to do that only once for each plan. This way the plans will show in the radar screen as they should. Brilliant! I also programmed a button on my throttle for Ctrl-F12 to toggle, works a treat! It would be quite handy if the size of the radar screens would be adjustable, i.e. like an adv. disp. Great product! Once again, thank you very much for taking your time!Sam

Sam,The adjustable size is a suggestion for down the road, made by other users also. Did you know there is a mini size display also? The red triangle will reduce it and a mouse click in the middle of the screen will return it to full size.We also realize that re-saving flight plans is also not the greatest. This is something for down the road too.Hope this helps,JimActiveSky Support

Thank you, Jim!I will patiently await the update! :-)Until then I use the mini size. Thank you!Sam

It may not be in the next update, but in an update in the future.Hope this helps,JimActiveSky Support

That's absolutely fine with me! Thank you, Jim!I also love the very smooth weather changes and the very realistic environment ActiveSky is building! Excellent! Is it crucial to "Fetch"? I inserted manually so far.Kind regards,Sam

That is fine also.Hope this helps,JimActiveSky Support
