I cannot find in the active sky pdf file what the function of the defcycle & expcycle wxd are. Would you kindly provide a brief explanation or point to documentation on these specific files?

Yes I reads this page and they discuss & they discuss "cycle02.wxd" but not the "defcycle.wxd" or the "expcycle.wxd". It makes no reference to those two data files

defcycle.wxd is the default cycle file that we supply until you download and create your own for Offline Mode. Expcycle.wxd is the default export cycle file that we supply until you create your own for external programs such as FSFlightMax.Hope this helps,JimActiveSky Support
