March 22, 200422 yr Hi there,I'm a recent purchaser of AS2004 and when I get the weather loaded it is very impressive! However, I keep getting AS2004 shutdowns "ActiveSky has encountered a problem and must close - send report ?"I have a new system built - P4 3.0Ghz CPU, MSI Mobo, 1GB PC3200 DDR RAM, ATI Radeon 9800 Pro 128MB graphics with Omega drivers, Western Digital 10,00rpm S-ATA drive, SoundBlaster Audigy 2 soundcard, 21" monitor,WinXP home, fully updated from Microsoft Windows Update and running broadband always on connection. Using FS2004, lately with the new PSS Airbus A330-200 package, although I also used the PMDG 737NG and a default Beech Baron too.Installed AS2004 and printed out the manual. Basically, AS2004 loads and gets weather. Then, if I try to do anything else like import a flightplan from FS2004 (exported from FSNAV) or open a submenu, then AS2004 simply wants to shut down! Tonight I tried it online with Squawkbox, SBRelay (MultiPlayer mode) VATSIM and AVC voice and whilst I got the weather loaded and it looks great, it also wants to shut down. I end up running it all again.I have a registered version of FSUIPC (the one before the current version).Mostly now, I just run AS2004, let it get the Wx and then just minimise it to keep it active. Tonight during a flight out of EGKK, I had been flying for about 1 and a half hours and the Wx seemed to just stay the same. I raised AS2004 from the taskbar and immeadiately it wanted to shut down!I have installed the 32-bit cloud set recommended in the manual to help frames.Any help on solving this issue would be appreciated.Kind regards, Lee JamesDesktop Pilot - www.virtualairlinepilot.org Instagram - virtualairlinepilot_leeCheck out my Adventure Videos & FS Reviews on YouTube at VirtualAirlinePilot !
March 22, 200422 yr Hi Lee,Sorry you are having trouble. We need to start with the basic and build from there. Try a flight just with AS and FS using a default plane and see what happens. Then add one thing at a time. Also, any error reports or messages would be helpful. Please report back!Hope this helps,JimActiveSky Supporthttp://www.hifisim.com/images/as2004proudsupporter.jpg

March 27, 200422 yr Author Hi Jim,Ok, I used the default Cessna skyhawk and flew a short hop from Alderney to Jersey (Channel Islands, UK). ActiveSky runs and loads the weather and then I minimised it to the taskbar.I then clicked it back to refresh the weather and it shut down. Also, last night I tried it again online with VATSIM and used an FSNAV flightplan exported into FS2004 and then imported into AS2004. I got to load it and process it but when I printed it out, it printed ok but the process caused it to shutdown! I relaoded AS2004 and again, refreshed the data which caused it to shutdown.Just one thing here - the loaded version shows version 1.0 I see references made to MR1 (maintainence release) and also version 1.92 updates. I litterally purchased a few days ago so do I need to patch or upgrade anything here ?Withthe Channel Islands flight, I did a simple flightplan in FSNAV, exported to FS2004 then imported to AS2004 (2 waypoints I think) but still the product wants to shutdown. Its really hard to tell you any error messages because instead of the normal grey error box saying something like " XXXXX caused a fault in module and will be shutdown " and you get a tabs you can click for details, with this I get the Microsoft two colour screen box that just says that AS2004 encountered a problem and must close - with the option to send or don't send the data. If I click for details, the list is huge and cannot adequately "screen grab" the data or text in order to show it to you.Do you guys get the details of the error if I hit the "SEND" tab or does it go to Microsoft ?Right now the problem is keeping the programme running long enough to use it! It loads great weather and skyscapes but it does not stay running long enough to see any change.I'll try it again to se if I can get any more data that may be of use to you. Thanks for your kind help on this, regards, Lee JamesDesktop Pilot - www.virtualairlinepilot.org Instagram - virtualairlinepilot_leeCheck out my Adventure Videos & FS Reviews on YouTube at VirtualAirlinePilot !
March 27, 200422 yr Hi Lee,I thought this the first time and now you confired it: the error box you are getting is from FS and not Active Sky. How do I know? because we don't have a send tab, but FS does. Try a flight without AS and do the same things as you just did. See if FS crashes.MR1 is for AS2004 and should be downloaded and installed. Do not do anything with V1.92. That is for another program. We need to take this one step at a time, but we'll get it!Hope this helps,JimActiveSky Supporthttp://www.hifisim.com/images/as2004proudsupporter.jpg

Nothing in the taskbar to indicate it was still running, just shutdown.I also notice that whenAS loads the Wx, I get a couple of flashes of the acreen behind FS. I guess this is usual.>>MR1 is for AS2004 and should be downloaded and installed.<>We need to take this one step at a time, but we'll get it!< Lee JamesDesktop Pilot - www.virtualairlinepilot.org Instagram - virtualairlinepilot_leeCheck out my Adventure Videos & FS Reviews on YouTube at VirtualAirlinePilot !
March 27, 200422 yr Hi Lee,The more details you can give us, as you are doing, the easier it is for us. I took some notes from your last post.1. OK for some reason AS is shutting down. We really do need the error message if you can get it. If you highlight the message and copy you should be able to get it into a text document. Send it to skorna AT comcast.net. If not, we can try other things.2. The flashing is caused by Render to Texture being ON in FS. It is located under Alt/O/E/D in FS. Make sure it is checked OFF. Your screen flashing should go away.3. Yes, upgrade to MR1, but it is OK to wait until we get your crashing situation solved first.Back to working around the house!Hope this helps,JimActiveSky Supporthttp://www.hifisim.com/images/as2004proudsupporter.jpg
