Visibility Problem

Featured Replies

Hi folks,I'm running AS2004 build 90 over WideFS using the latest registered versions of FSUIPC and WideFS.My problem is that I am not getting reduced visibility on the ground when the METAR data contains no clouds or precipitation. For example, last night 260200z weather at CYYB had Fog and 0sm visibility, but no clouds or precipitation. Sitting on the ground I had a wonderful clear night with no reduced visibility at all. Using the FSUIPC weather tool I could see that the winds were properly set, but the visibility was over 20sm. I then moved to several other airports with low visibility that had clouds or precipitation in the METAR string and the reduced visibility was set properly in these cases.I'm sorry I did not save the METAR string, but I'm sure it can be retrieved from the archived data. Included below are my ini files.

Hi Murf,Try with this line set to FALSEEnforceVisibilityLimits = TrueAlso try to reset FSUIPC to mimimum weather defaults. Please let us know the outcomes.Hope this helps,JimActiveSky Supporthttp://www.hifisim.com/images/as2004proudsupporter.jpg

Hi Jim,I have tried both suggestions.CYSB 261900Z 31003KT 1/8SM FG VV002 08/08 A3004 RMK FG8 SLP183The above METAR provides nice clear visibility in FS when I shouldn't be able to see the nose of the plane.Moving to an airport with similar visibility and cloud cover or precipitation causes the visibility to be set correctly. I'm only seeing this when there is no clouds or precip in the METAR string.

Hi Mike,I pulled up the exact METAR that is giving you trouble and my conditions changed to the conditions in the METAR, so I know the METAR is valid. If you leave CYSB, go to another airport and return back, does the weather clear up or stay fogged in? The 19Z archive will give you the METAR. Remember to change to Offline Mode.Hope this helps,JimActiveSky Supporthttp://www.hifisim.com/images/as2004proudsupporter.jpg
