clouds popping in/out of view..

Featured Replies

Hi Jim,Well, here's question two. What setings are required to keep clouds popping into/out of view abruptly? I can't speak authoritatively on this because I've only flown a few hours with AS. If there's no easy answer, I can provide you wih my settings (which are all stock). BTW, FSW 32 bit clouds installed, render to texture off. Thanks,Mark

This is my hang up question that I can never keep straight: Cloud Draw distance in FS has to be equal to or greater than your local supression range in AS. If that doesn't work then flip what I wrote around. If neither one works then post your as2004.ini file!Hope this helps,JimActiveSky Supporthttp://www.hifisim.com/images/as2004proudsupporter.jpg

Hey Jim,I had already set those parameters earlier when I checked out the manual. Those include;Sight distance=60Draw distance=303D=100%Coverage=HighSupression=30I just went thru the whole sequence again as per the manual (clear weather, FSUIPC-clear weathet, etc.) with a short flight from KAPC to KSFO (didn't finish the flight) and weather changes were very abrupt. Bam! Overcast. Bam! Relatively clear. I was expecting a smoother transition between reporting stations. Here's my file...//AS2004 configuration file[General]WindowPosX = 5160WindowPosY = 5205DefaultWeatherFolder = C:Program FilesMicrosoft GamesFlight Simulator 9ModulesActiveSky2004SuppressionCeiling = 10000SurfaceWindLimit = 10CloudLayerLimit = 10LocalSuppressionRange = 30OnlineUpdates = FalseExtendedDestinationWindsForce = FalseGlobalWrites = TrueVoicePlayback = TrueLocalSuppression = TrueStartupSound = TrueUseProxyServer = FalseFogLayerGeneration = TrueUpdateSuppression = TrueOvercastEnhancement = TrueRouteWindSmoothing = TrueLimitSurfaceWinds = FalseLimitCloudLayers = FalseDisableUpperLayerGeneration = FalseVisibilitySmoothing = TrueDisableMessages = FalseAutoTimeZoneDetection = TrueUpdateInterval = 15VATSIMData = FalseZuluConversion = -7TAFProcessing = FalseWakeTurb = TrueStartPaused = FalseUseSystemTime = TrueDisableCAVOKClouds = FalseProxyAddress = NONEThanks for all your help,Mark

Hi Mark,Yes, I agree, you should have smooth transitions.Few things:1. Update to MR1. I think you are missing some options.2. Turn global writes OFF. After you update there will be an option for auto global writes that you can check ON. In areas of few weather stations this will kick in the global writes, but for USA flying global writes should be OFF.3. Bump local supression range up to 50.4. In FS make sure dynamic weather change is set to none.Did these things happen on accent, descent, or level flight?Hope this helps,JimActiveSky Supporthttp://www.hifisim.com/images/as2004proudsupporter.jpg
