Activesky providing old weather?

Featured Replies

Hi,yesterday I did some nice bad weather flying at TLPL (11PM) and I got a weather report from 1500Z. However, I just checked Activesky, 9 hours later, and now its reporting:TLPL 261900Z 09012KT 8000 VCSH FEW008 BKN015 BKN080 27/26 Q1015 JP-NWwhile it's june 27th 9:30am (gmt+1) at my place. Shouldn't AS have gotten a much more recent update by now? I'm running AS MR1 with online updates enabled and I can succesfully do a manual updates so there's no problem with the internet connection.regards,Wanne.

Maybe this is a problem of timezone detection...There are options for this in AS, maybe try to look if they are correctly configured.

I've checked the auto timezone value and it seems to be correct (2 and I forgot about daylight saving so my TZ should be GMT+2, Netherlands).Activesky now has a much more recent update: 270700Z while the local time here now is 11:50am. Still I'm curious why there was such a huge delay between these updates? What update cycles are to be expected of these small weather stations?Wanne.

Don't know, i have about 1h delay...Right now the metars are about 1h old...Don't know for sure why, maybe there are delays in the update circuit AS uses...

Are you getting a 1hour delay for TLPL? At this moment (18pm) I'm still getting the same 0700Z update which I 6 hours ago?!?Wanne.

Right now at 17:03Z i have the 1400Z which is 3 hours old...

That's strange... maybe I'm doing something wrong here, when I fill in TLPL in custom station report I still get (after pressing fetch):TLPL 270700Z 09025KT 4200 +SHRA FEW006 BKN015 BKN038 24/24 Q1015which is way older than yours...?Maybe someone from Activesky support can explain why I get the older data?Wanne.

Hi Wanne,Looks like the TLPL data is older, even for me. I just tried and it was 3 hours old. Some stations do not report every hour especially manned stations, so AS is going to use the last valid report. In your case, are other METARs correct, timewise?Hope this helps,JimActiveSky Supporthttp://www.hifisim.com/images/as2004proudsupporter.jpg

Hi Jim,I've just checked EHAM and EBBR:EHAM 270955Z 25010KT 220V280 9999 FEW015 BKN018 20/16 Q1015 NOSIGEBBR 270950Z 24009KT 210V280 9999 SCT020 22/17 Q1017 NOSIGTLPL is a very small station so I guess that it would be unmanned. EBBR and EHAM are large airports so they should be manned, however, is 10 hours delay normal for a manned station of a major airport?regards,Wanne.

No, those last two are out of date. I got newer data just now. Without FS running you need to click on Download then D/L Current, then do a custom search. Were you running FS when you got these?Hope this helps,JimActiveSky Supporthttp://www.hifisim.com/images/as2004proudsupporter.jpg

Hi Jim,that helped, I didn't knew that you need to perform these steps when FS isn't running! Now EHAM reports: EHAM 271925Z 24017KT CAVOK 18/13 Q1017 TEMPO 24018G28KTregards,Wanne.

OK good. If you watch AS on startup you will see that it does not connect to the server so you have to download manually.Hope this helps,JimActiveSky Supporthttp://www.hifisim.com/images/as2004proudsupporter.jpg
