Strange things...

Hi Damian and Jim,I flew for about 1 month with the AS2004 and I was always very very happy with it.But yesterday, thing went absolutely awry...I fly always offline, because I don't have an Internet access at home, so I download the archives I need and copy them in the AS2004 and fly.I flew yesterday the KDEN-KABQ route with the PMDG 737-700 and the 00Z archive of June 26th, ATC just in background as chatter. The actual and forecast weather was stormy and I expected a rough ride.Took off from Denver's rwy 26 (at 0137Z, AS2004 performing flawlessly the TAF processing as expected) in a light shower with CB clouds all over the place, steered my way using the active radar to avoid the worst cluster and finally got enroute climbing with just a little turbulence to my filed crusing altitude of FL310.I was just giving a look at my nice 737 majestically flying with that astound background of sunset behind the Rockies and the CB and the flashing of lightning (and was also regretting not to have installed FSSCreen to take some nice screenshot !) when things started to go seriously wrong.First of all I noticed an anomalous jump of altitude, quite instanlty it went to 32500 ft and the altitude warning sounded. While my valiant autopilot started to correct, I saw with horror my IAS changing as much as 150 knots up and down ! "What the hell...", I scremaed then thought of something amiss with the Pitot heaters, checked them ON as they should be, checked the FMC for SAT, was -30 C or so, an ISA + 10, then in a second the TAT was +25 and the SAT -1 or so... (know this can happen, sometimes there are thermical inversion, so I was not worried fo this) engines went crazy with autothrottle trying to maintain the 0.78M that was programmed while the IAS went through the roof, 500+ knots, altitude banged up at 41000+ feet climbing, a lot of sirens sounding, VSI -4000 ft and altitude increasing. Paused the sim, took a big big breath and checked the AS2004.My position when all this hell happened was around ALS VOR, KE33 was the reporting station, no altimeter in the METAR, something in the TAF (QNH3020INS or so)...Took a look at the tracking surface data, got a 2992 altimeter (maybe this is a known bug) and also a very low temp (6 or so Celsius, don't know if this has been reported before, I always got very low surface tempeture in the tracking mode), tried to press the "B" button for local altimeter and my heart bumped at seeing a mere 6.17" ! This is not real and cannot happen, I thought...Continued to hand fly and maintained the FS Altitude (Shift+Z) of 26000 ft while my altimeter (reset a 2992") was well over 45000 ft...Things started to come back to normal about 100 NM out of ABQ, I flew an almost uneventful approach (steering around TS with precious AS radar, albeit it had sometimes the well known "black hole" problem that was recently reported in a post, expcet for the fact that the ATIS was reporting 260/10KT and altimeter setting of 3009", while hitting the "B" button resulted in a 3020" setting...Winds were 90/15KT for most part of the approach and I decided to fly the ILS 8 because the visibility was just 1/2 SM in raind and thundersotrm, accepting a 10 KT tailwind on final. The problem was that the altimeter setting went again at 3009 on short finals...To summarize:1-unrealistically low altimeter settings (I know this has been reported)2-unrelistically changing altimeter settings (3009 to 3020 in 15 NM and less than 5 minutes)3-unrealistically hight enroute temperatures (this has been rpeorted too)4-anomalous surface temperature in AS radar tracking modeSorry for the long post !I'm using AMD Athlon 3GHz, 512 Mb RAM, NVidia 9600 video card 256 Mb, Windows XP Pro.FSUIPC unregistered, AS2004 V1.0.TAF processing enabled.Enrico.

Yesterday the ActiveSky server had some really bad times, people here experienced all kind of funny and unrealistic behaviours, including a flight at -273

Hi Erups...I read of these problems, but I downloaded the archive dated 00Z of June 25th, and it seemed OK (the aloft temperatures were high but at least credible)...The worst was the pressure that went awry...Thanks.Enrico.

Enrico,Can you update to V1.1 and let us know your results. As you know we are working on a number of these things!Hope this helps,JimActiveSky Supporthttp://www.hifisim.com/images/as2004proudsupporter.jpg

Hi Jim,I know that most of these bugs are being investigated. I just posted my "adventure" to let you know what has happened and see if something weird could be fixed in the future. Your AS2004 is absolutely fantastic (as was the wxRE for fs2k2) and your support is the best in the industry.I downloaded the MR1 and will install asap and let you know. Thanks for your help.Enrico.
