July 2, 200421 yr Just wondering what startup procedures / settings (AI Traffic) Weather reset to clear skies, FSUIPC Clear Weather, (on and on).The biggest pain in the posterior is that the active runway will not change based on the surface winds AS 2004 loads into FS 2004.I wrote Damian on this and he said it is an issue with FS 2004, as it won't change the active runway based on surface winds until all AI traffic have departed or landed, in other words all AI traffic have been been processed. He also gave me some workaround to set the time back a minute or more?? Or just wait 10 minutes? I haven't see this work too well.I think surface winds and runway assignments are a fundamental requirement for enjoying the flight experience. It just seems a little kludgy / cumbersome as far as the steps you have to go through to get the weather to load via AS-2004. Once the weather is loaded properly and all the settings are recognized by FS 2004, it is really AWESOME. Loading this setting AI traffic to 0%, seems like it should be handled by AS 2004 via FSUIPC. I know this is easier said then done...Anyone have any ideas on how this multi step load process can be streamlined? I hate to use ANOTHER add-on utility just to get FS 2004 to the point where the AS 2004 weather will load and actually change the Active Runway (surface winds, etc and changing the active).I think these issues should be high on the list of things for Damian to resolve. Thanks!Barry
July 2, 200421 yr Hi Barry,I am not saying you are right or wrong, but I am seeking some answers:1. Are you concerned about active runways for AI traffic, yourself or both?2. What do you find hard about the start up procedure? Again, I am not attacking you. I just want to make intellegent suggestions!I do have some things in mind, but I'll wait until you answer.Hope this helps,JimActiveSky Supporthttp://www.hifisim.com/images/as2004proudsupporter.jpg
July 2, 200421 yr Hi Jim,(1) If the surface winds at KMDW are 320 @ 8, then runway 31(LCR) should be the active for all traffic AI included. If this requires AS 2004 setting the AI% to 0 before it loads the weather, and then set it back to the original % after the weather loads, so be it. I realize much of this relies on FSUIPC and what its capabilities are. I am no expert here. Antoher issue is that I use WideFS so I would like to start WideFS and AS 2004 on a machine and just leave it going 24/7. With the exception of the initial or changing settings, I really don't want to deal with the AS 2004 UI / PC at all. As soon as I load FS and the flight situation, AS 2004 should retrieve the weather for that area and load it. There might be an issue with WideFS when the FS session doesn't exist for a long period of time. I haven't tested this thoughly. The only issue is the flight plan and impact on AS 2004. Why does the flight plan have to be loaded in both AS 2004 and FS 2004? Maybe some research needs to be done regarding flight plan data and its exposure via FSUIPC.Am I the only one that looks at it this way?(2) There is nothing hard about using AS 2004. I have done it sucessfully many many times. Being a software developer myself, it seems like there are some opportunities for improvement. This may be in the suggestions you and others make. But it appears to me several of these improvements will have to come from Damian.Software development is an evolutionary process. Thanks for your help.Barry
