How to see the server WX archive content?

Featured Replies

Hello All,...from a new AS2004 user :-)I tried to download the archived WX for yesterday 2004-07-02 12Z, but got the message that "The weather for the specified date range was not found." (May be later?)Not a big deal as such, but I have a general question: Is it possible to find out which archived WX files are actually available on the server? As it is now, my only option seems to be to go through all possible "adjacent" hours (and then perhaps even all "adjacent" days!), and attempt a download for each one separately, until I finally hit the available file "nearest" (in time) to the one I actually wanted. So it would be nice to have some List function telling me what is actually there, and then take my pick from that, in a more efficient manner.A pity the downloads are not using the FTP protocol; then this would have been easy to solve. :-)Thanks in advance for any tips.Cheers,Martin

Hi Martin,Damian will correct me if I am mistaken, but I think the archives happen every six hours (0,6,12,18Z). This begain last December. An adjacent day is not a problem, but an adjacent hour would not be archived yet. However, I do see that any times from the 12Z archive from yesterday are not there. There was a data problem yesterday and this might have something to do with it.We thank you for your suggestion!Hope this helps,JimActiveSky Supporthttp://www.hifisim.com/images/as2004proudsupporter.jpg

Hello Jim,thanks for the prompt reply! I am aware that the archived hours are only 0,6,12,18Z, but I was supposing that if I "order" e.g. 13Z that this will be "shifted" automatically to the nearest six-hour file in the archive (in this case 12Z). Or should I really only use the hours 0, 6, 12, or 18 in my "order"?In any case, even so it would still be nice to be able to have a peek at what is actually there, before trying to download. On the other hand, if missing data are a very rare occurrence, this "List function" is of course not urgently needed.Again, thanks for the quick reply (and on a Saturday, too)!Have a nice weekend :-)Cheers,Martin

Hi Martin,You can "order" any time you wish. Just for everyone's info., the 13Z weather would be part of the 18Z archive, not the 12Z archive. So don't think of the closest archive time, think of the next archived time.Yep, users fly 24/7 so we keep on working!Hope this helps,JimActiveSky Supporthttp://www.hifisim.com/images/as2004proudsupporter.jpg
