August 2, 200421 yr Hi there,Last night, I conducted a search concerning this, found one thread, but this morning, I can't find it. So here I am...Installed ActiveSky w/ActiveRadar. Worked well for a couple flights. I noticed though, if I set the detail to max, nothing shows up. Worked fine with it on the second and third setting.I tinkered with some of the "Options" and now I do not get any precipitation images. Track and wind speed/direction is ok.I believe I'm setting up correctly. I start FS2004, Create a flight and save. Start the flight, select "clear all weather" via FSUIPC. I then open AS, wait for initialization and start AR, import the flight plan, conduct an update and switch to the "Situation Display". Go back to FS2004.I know AR only displays rain and such, and not necessarily the clouds. But it was definately raining!I went back through the "Options" several times trying to find and correct whatever it was I did. If I did mess something up, I can't find it now. What am I missing and/or what else do I need to do?Thanks,Joe
August 2, 200421 yr Hi Joe,On the tracking screen does the Precip line report anything? While this is happening what is the METAR in AS? You can cut and paste when you get a chance. Please let us know. We wnat to get you up and running!Hope this helps,JimActiveSky Supporthttp://www.hifisim.com/images/as2004proudsupporter.jpg
August 2, 200421 yr Well, now it's not raining so Precip is none.METAR:KSEA 021917Z VRB06KT 10SM FEW013 SCT015 16/11 A2994 RMK AO2TAF:KSEA 021727Z 021818 22007KT P6SM OVC009 FM1900 23008KT P6SM SCT009 OVC012 FM2100 23007KT P6SM SCT014 FM2200 24007KT P6SM SKC FM1200 20005KT P6SM SCT009 FM1300 20004KT 5SM BR BKN006 FM1700 22004KT P6SM SCT006 BKN010Active Aloft Report:FL030: 070/04 (19.0) FL060: 105/07 (10.0) FL090: 140/10 (1.0)FL120: 175/13 (-8.0) FL180: 210/16 (-17.0) FL240: 245/19 (-26.0)FL300: 280/22 (-35.0) FL340: 315/25 (-44.0) FL390: 350/28 (-53.0) ***Route-Based Wind Smoothing features enabled - processed data may not match real-time reports!***For absolute accurate data, turn off Wind Smoothing...I still have a completely blank "Situation". I should still see dense cloud cover correct? I can't find a place where it's raining right now.I have attached a capture of my AS Options just in case.One last question. In FS directly, I can choose the type of weather. Can I do the same thing with AS?
August 3, 200421 yr Hi Joe,Thanks for the information!A few suggestions:Please update your AS.Turn global writes OFF. If you fly in remote areas then turn Automatic global writes ON.No, even though dense clouds contain much moisture they will not show up. The METARs in the area must have rain in them. Our RADAR shows precip. not clouds. For rain tonight, fly from the Carolina's north. The rains from TS Alex will show up!Hope this helps,JimActiveSky Supporthttp://www.hifisim.com/images/as2004proudsupporter.jpg
August 3, 200421 yr I'm already running v1.1. I figure it's from the MR1. Is there another update?I turned off Global Writes, went to NC, loaded up the weather. It's working now with the exception of it crashing my computer when I minimize AS or open the Options while in flight. Oh well, guess I can't have everything...Or can I?Thanks for your help Jim.
August 3, 200421 yr Hi,OK some progress. MR1 is good for now. The testing team is so far beyond, that your options screen looks kind of different. Watch for MR2 in the next few days.Might want to try some ATI drivers and see if that helps.Hope this helps,JimActiveSky Supporthttp://www.hifisim.com/images/as2004proudsupporter.jpg
