August 19, 200421 yr Hi,Iam a new user, but am having some problems. In heavy cloud my fpsis going from 29 to 1 and even to the point of freezing. Last nightI was flying into KORD, and this happened. I exited FS2004 and thenrestarted it with the previous flight selection, then my fps were backto 10-15. Weather was saved, so I reloaded into AS and the moment Iturned it on my sim froze. I have unchecked render to texture and have installed MR1. The only 3rd party addon as far as weather is,FS9skytx.zip for sky texture. August 19, 200421 yr Hi Dan,Sorry you are having trouble. Heavy clouds in general cause a FPS hit, but not as large as yours. Some suggestions:Use FSW clouds.Turn down cloud draw distance in FSTurn down sight distance in FSMake sure you are running 100% 3D cloudsLimit cloud layers in ASLower your AA and AF on your video cardTry these when you get a chance and let us know your results.Hope this helps,JimActiveSky Supporthttp://www.hifisim.com/images/as2004proudsupporter.jpg
August 20, 200421 yr Hi Jim,Thank you for getting back with me, flew from KABQ into KDFW and thought my problem was fixed. But, it started again I made all yoursuggestive changes and it still happened. however I only have dialupand I am thinking that it was trying to update. Please tell me ifthat could do it. Also the strangest thing is happening with my airspeed, I am flying a FXX DC-10 and since I have install AS2004my airspeed indicator goes to zero and my throttles excelerate. Anyideas? One other thing, it would really add to the realisum if whenyou are searching for weather or traffic by hitting the W on the keyboard if the radar would disappear like the rest of the panel.Just asuggestion. Thanks for your time, I feel sure that we will work this out.Dan
August 20, 200421 yr Hi Dan,You have 3 things in your post so let's take them 1 at a time.1. Try to run in windowed mode so that you can watch FS and AS at the same time. Watch for a download and see if the pauses start happening.2. Turn on PITOT heat(Shift/H). Even in the summertime it can get pretty cold flying way up high!3. Right now AR is not a guage file, but a .dll file, so that is why AR stays on the screen. The mini display should work out, and both displays can be moved around the screen. The future may change this. Please get back to us about the pauses!Hope this helps,JimActiveSky Supporthttp://www.hifisim.com/images/as2004proudsupporter.jpg
August 22, 200421 yr Hi again Jim,The pauses have nothing to do with downloading or writing to the fsuipc I have been trying different things, O by the way I am not loosing my airspeed any longer. I by passed AS and downloaded regweather, I then turned on my gauge, went to planner put in my flightplan and got clouds as KIAH was having thunderstorms andlight rain. I then taxied took off and started my climb into heavyclouds. my FPS were 15-29 with no stutter. I then turned on theradar and the stuttering started my FPS then were all over the place2-17-23 and etc. and when I turn on the main gauge in situation modeit froze the flight. When I go to the small gauge both gauges stayvisible, but when I go to tracking or planning mode I can swith back and forth. I am OK as long as I don't go to situation mode on the main gauge, but I am still getting a bad stutter in the small gaugemode. Hope this helps. Thanks,
August 22, 200421 yr Dan,It is good that downloads and writes are not causing stutters. It is good that you have airspeed! So now it looks like Active Radar is causing your stutter. I hope that is what you mean when you use the word guage. Now what you need to do is go to the Active Radar Options screen and turn down your Radar detail level. Also try with radar details off.I am confused at the end where you talk about both guages being visible. Are you saying that you can get the large radar and the small radar visible at the same time? How do you do that?Hope this helps,JimActiveSky Supporthttp://www.hifisim.com/images/as2004proudsupporter.jpg
August 23, 200421 yr Hi Jim,well I told you that we would work it out. I went into the optionsmenu and found that Radar Details was not enabled, however Alt. RadarRender was. I then clicked the reset and it all works fine, evenwith my original settings.I am going to try include a jpeg of the tworadar screens, just to show you it is possible. Thanks for all ofyour help, looking forward to the next version.
August 23, 200421 yr Alt. Radar Render renders the echos using small circles instead of small blocks. Hope this helps,JimActiveSky Supporthttp://www.hifisim.com/images/as2004proudsupporter.jpg
August 24, 200421 yr Hi Dan you could try these clouds http://fsw.simflight.com/FSWFs2k2Clouds.htmlregards Rob
