Excuse me if this is alread being done, but it occurs to me that you could improve the fidelity of the weather; WRT clouds and rain; if you were to use satalite, surface observation, and radar images to augment the METAR data.Since you have your own weather server, I envision this being simply adjustments to the METARs, and perhaps even adding METARS for sectors that are devoid of reporting stations, or who's data is hours, or days old. This woould mean that the weather does not match reported METAR's in some cases, but would provide for a more dynamic, and accurate model of real world conditions.
