Wind 360 at 04 KT

Featured Replies

Hello Damian and Jim!Using the weather file 2004.09.15, 20Z at Kelowna airport (CYLW) I got the following problem (AS2004 4.5, FSUIPC 3.317). CYLW METAR states wind 360 at 4 (36004KT), but the wind which is sent to FS is 36T (True) instead of 360T. After I found this problem I start testing this with FS2004 New Weather Utility from Peter Dowson. (Flight Watch on 122.0 reports the same winds like this utility.) Changing the wind direction in the METAR data file manually I got the following results:METAR FS350 350359 359001 001010 010Everything as it should be, but now comes the funny part of the test:METAR FS360 36370 37 (sorry, just wanted to check the idea :-) )390 39 It looks like there a bug here when 360 degrees wind is processed...Kind regards,Peter

Hi Peter,Thanks for that infomation. I am not a weather expert but should 360 be reported as 000 in the METAR or no?Hope this helps,JimActiveSky Supporthttp://www.hifisim.com/images/as2004proudsupporter.jpg

Hi Jim,Thanks for your reply!I guess both 360 and 000 are valid, at least as I just checked both variants can be found in METAR file. Also, ATC will say heading 360 insted of 000, and runway with heading 0 degrees will be marked as 36. Thus 36004KT should be processed correctly...Peter
