November 1, 200421 yr Hi Guy's :-waveI am experiancing some rough stutters and frame rate hits in FS9 when running AS. after closing AS the issues go away, now I AM NOT blaming of flaming this wonderfull product in ANY way at all, I just wanted to make this clear at the begining,:-)now to the points in hand,I start FS9, set my flight, make a plan, then connect to M/Player with S/Box etc,you know the drill, then start up and refresh AS, after this has refreshed I go back in to FS9, after I take off I start to get a massive frame rate hit, eg, when in the turn it is like a kind of slide show effect if you know what I mean,;( now my FS is set to medium settings for performance purposes even though I have a rapid setup,:-eek (you can see these details in my sig)I have attached a screen shot of my settings in AS so you can see where I have gone wrong, I'm allmost possitive it's going to be something I have missed, or set instead of un-setting etc,I run FS at 1280x960x32,with frames locked at 30, CAT 4.10 ATI drivers, all AI off, I set the ''normal'' defaults in my registered FSUIPC,and the Chris Willis max performance cloud set too.I can't think of any more info that you may need,:-roll if you do please post it here as I will check this post tomorrow on return from work.thanks guy's,:-kewlSteve.:-abducthttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/96184.jpg
November 1, 200421 yr Hi Steve,We know there is a difference between a flame and a legit. problem. Flames usually start with "You SOBs"! You have a legit problem so don't be afraid to ask for help. Some suggestions when you get a chance:TAF Processing - OffOvercast Enhancement - Off for now.Fog Layer - Off for now.Haze Layer - Off for now. With Disable Ground Updates On you may not have the same weather conditions as the VATSIM controller. I suggest this to be Off. This will not change your frame rates. In FS: Cloud draw distance = 30Sight draw distance = 60.Render to Texture = Off.AA Off in FSTry these and see what happens. If you use FS downloaded weather what are your findings? Please let us know!Hope this helps,JimActiveSky Supporthttp://www.hifisim.com/images/as2004proudsupporter.jpg
November 1, 200421 yr Hi Jim,well, I didn't need to try the FS weather, I just followed you're instructions and here are the shots to prove it, note the FPS counter in the top left corner.PS, so what weather am I missing out on now though!, and do you have any up-dates in the pipeline at all Jim, again, not that this is a complaint of any kind, just curious.and, what about those settings you told me to disable, will this make a big diference in what I see or miss out on in this program at all.PPS. I have also upped my cloud numbers from 3 to 5 now, again, not fps hit yet.thanks again.Steve,http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/96211.jpghttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/96212.jpghttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/96213.jpg
November 1, 200421 yr Hi,Yes those are better numbers! OK, go back and for those options that I said "for now" turn them on ONE AT A TIME. Then test it out in FS. I think the least realistic is the EnableFS9Haze. You will find which options work best. Now that you have a base you can tweek forever!Edit: No major updates planned unless there are major things that need to be fixed. Damian is hard at work for the next version of Active Sky.Hope this helps,JimActiveSky Supporthttp://www.hifisim.com/images/as2004proudsupporter.jpg

I know, it will actually rain in my computer room :)
November 2, 200421 yr The Feature set has not been finalized yet, so I will not list anything. Rain is not real good for keyboards and such, so we'll be leaving that one out!Hope this helps,JimActiveSky Supporthttp://www.hifisim.com/images/as2004proudsupporter.jpg
