June 21, 200520 yr AS I understand it from reading the manual and from all the post on this forum concerning texture loading at ASV startup. ASV cannot load textures with FS running, except Cirrus. So how is ASV going to work as advertised using WideFS if FS must be running for WideFS to connect and allow ASV to communicate with FS thru the network ? ASV would have to write the textures to FS thru the standard Windows network and shared folders before it connects to FS using WideFS. If I'm correct on that assumption, then is it necessary to map a drive from the WideFS PC to the FS PC before loading ASV and planning the flight or will it simply do what it needs to do accross the normal network without going thru WideFS???. Then once FS is running and WideFS connects ASV would communicate the weather environment thru WideFS. Some clarification on this would be appreciated.I have AE start up set for ICS + Random
June 22, 200520 yr >how is ASV going to work as advertised using WideFS if FS must>be running for WideFS to connect and allow ASV to communicate>with FS thru the network ?Exactly as on a single pc config. You fire ASV, load and process the FP.Hit refresh (shouldn't it be automatic). When ASV says the textures are loaded and the process is halted due to FS not connected, you fire FS and WideFS.That's how i do it.

Before installing ASV, you must establish a normal windows network path between the computer running FS and the computer running WideFS. At the least you need to be able to have write access to the FS folder from the WideFS computer. Then when you install ASV, the setup routine will ask you to identify the path to the FS folder. Once this is completed, the setup program makes a complete backup of the FS texture folder across the network to the remote ASV machine, so you can restore the default textures (or any custom textures installed prior to using AE textures). If you want to use ICS, you must enter a flight plan (or for a local area flight enter the same airport for the starting and ending locations). Click refresh to process the WX stations at the starting airport and transfer the textures from the ASV computer to the FS computer via the Windows network. Then you are ready to start FS, which once running allows you connect the computers via WideFS. Once WideFS is established, the regular ASV wx updates will communicate with FS via WideFS.So in summary, the Windows network transfers the initial texture load to the FS texture folder and WideFS handles the wx updates to the FS wx engine. Two separate modes of transfer for two separate tasks.Hope this answers the question and clears up any confusion.Bruce
June 22, 200520 yr Hi Erups, this is the exact procedure i follow on my networked PC's.I have two question thought:1) What should i do other than enable the option to activate Offline Sequence Playback?I usually download different sequential METAR (es. UTC 11-12-13-14-15) and when i load 11 METAR and refresh ASV tells me: xxxxxxxx_xxz_archive.dat not found, unable to synch with offline data and shortly after OFFLINE update completed new sequence file not found (xxxxxxxx_xxz is for the system Zulu Date/Time displayed on the top of the screen). But i have downloaded 12-13-14-15 :-hmmmUse System Time are disabled both in FS9 and ASV.I also have disabled TAF processing2) why i cannot activate Auto Set FS Time on Archive D/L?The option is activated but FS9 always starts using situation Day/Time (September 8th 2004)Thanks for helpingLuigi ;-)
