June 22, 200520 yr I tried the weather sequencing today for the first time and stumbled across something weird:I downloaded this sequence2005-06-21 09z to 12z, resulting in these files:20050621_09Z_archive.dat20050621_10Z_archive.dat20050621_11Z_archive.dat20050621_12Z_archive.datNow when looking inside these files at ESGP, the third hour is from the day before:ESGP::ESGP 210920Z 18012KT 9999 SCT033 BKN055 19/14 Q1014::ESGP...ESGP::ESGP 211020Z 14007KT 110V170 9000 TSRA FEW005 SCT022CB BKN040...ESGP::ESGP 201020Z 20008KT CAVOK 21/09 Q1019::ESGP 210830Z 210921...ESGP::ESGP 211150Z 14011KT 5000 TS RA FEW046CB OVC061 16/16...I know for sure that it was not CAVOK at that time. A major thunderstorm crossed all over here then. My guess is that the weather is wrongly from the day before. What is more disturbing is that I found many other stations in these archives that came from the day before, 20 instead of 21.I haven't tested more than these but thought a heads up was needed ASAP. Something is wrong with these dates.
June 22, 200520 yr Hi,There have been some server issues that Damian is aware of and was working on. This may be the cuase of the wrong data.Hope this helps,JimActiveSky Sales and Supporthttp://www.hifisim.com/images/asv_dev_team.jpg http://www.hifisim.com/images/asv_proud_supporter.jpg
June 23, 200520 yr Hi,Thanks for looking into it. I hope you also manage to correct the old archives as I have some dates I'd like to go back to later. When thinking of it, this problem could perhaps be the reason some people see big shifts in pressure/winds during flight. I've however not seen this dateshift in online weather yet, only when using archived sequencing.
June 23, 200520 yr Hi,I don't think we will be able to go back and fix the archive. That would mean that our sources would need to have archived weather and I don't think that is the case.Hope this helps,JimActiveSky Sales and Supporthttp://www.hifisim.com/images/asv_dev_team.jpg http://www.hifisim.com/images/asv_proud_supporter.jpg
June 23, 200520 yr Ok, I see. I thought you saved the raw METARs as well. Still I understand the space required after a few years of such data too. Hope you can sort the problems out and get better and better data.
