July 5, 200520 yr I just bought ASV -- having used FSMeteo for years.I'm impressed with many things in ASV -- but one capability I'm missing is the following . . . One of the things I have not been able to figure out how to do conveniently (!) is to, after importing a route plan into FSV, check the effect of winds over the entire route for a number of different altitudes, to see which altitude would give me the quickest route time. All I can figure out to do is reload the route each time . . . but even then, I can't seem to overide the altitude that is in the saved .PLN file.Am I just missing it, or is this not a capability of ASV.Thanks for any advice.Mark
July 5, 200520 yr Hi Mark and Welcome aboard,You are right the different altitude reports are not there. You are right about the plans also. I think the best way is to manually enter the IDs and then manually enter the altitude.Third, I can suggest using FSBuild which will read the winds data for flight planning. Then the plan can be loaded into ASV.Hope this helps,JimActiveSky Sales and Supporthttp://www.hifisim.com/images/asv_dev_team.jpg http://www.hifisim.com/images/asv_proud_supporter.jpg
July 5, 200520 yr Thanks for the quick reply, Jim.I'll have to look into FSBuild. I was aware of it, but didn't know it calculates ET's using wind info. Also, if one just enters initial and final ID's, is the route time calculated using the midpoint of the path, or does it use some other algorithm? Just curious.Mark
July 5, 200520 yr Hi Mark,It will use the speed you enter and the average winds at altitude.Edit: One more thing: there is a window called Aloft Winds Report by Waypoint that may help your planning.Hope this helps,JimActiveSky Sales and Supporthttp://www.hifisim.com/images/asv_dev_team.jpg http://www.hifisim.com/images/asv_proud_supporter.jpg
