July 11, 200520 yr I have noticed this just recently... although I am suspicious that it has been happening since I had ASV installed. I don't remember ever seeing this in AS2004.5Anyways what is happening is that I am getting inconsistent readings between FS's weather (read by pressing Shift+Z to look at the winds), ActiveRadar, and some aircraft panels I have which have wind gauges in them (for example, PSS Airbus, Feelthere CRJ, etc). The differences between FS' Shift+Z display and the wind gauges are usually only in direction, not magnitude. Right now I am cruising from KGEG to KDEN and the FS display is showing 214/49. My Airbus wind indicator is reading 231/48. What is causing this difference? It also seems suspiciously like one is reporting true headings whereas the other is reporting in magnetic heading (i.e. not accounting for magnetic variation).Regarding ActiveRadar... it just seems like the weather I see in the AR is not consistent with the weather I experience in FS. I mainly use the ActiveRadar to see the weather at my destination, so I can predict which runway I will be vectored in on. Or so I can input the arrival weather into the FMC of some of the aircraft I have. It seems like the weather I see in the ActiveRadar, however (for example if I press the "arrival" button on the tracking tab) will either be outdated (reading from the Zulu time indicator) or inaccurate. And if I press update it still uses these old reports. Is this how it is supposed to work, or has something gone awry? Thanks!Ruahrc
July 11, 200520 yr Hi,Winds are true direction and always have been! FS reports magnetic. Some planes show true, some magnetic.Make sure you are clicking on the update button. Also in the options screen you may want to lower the refresh number, by default it is 5. Please try 3 or 1.Hope this helps,JimActiveSky Sales and Supporthttp://www.hifisim.com/images/asv_dev_team.jpg http://www.hifisim.com/images/asv_proud_supporter.jpg
