July 15, 200520 yr Hi there,I ran into some odd problems since I installed the latest beta update.Whenever ASV is updating weather and I am in FS9.1 while checking something in a different window like: world map, flight planning, etc. It has a tendency to crash FS completely. I get a black window and that's the end of it.This happens with default FS planes and scenery as well as with add-ons. I'm using the higher level textures and let ASV update the weather while I'm flying.Does anyone have a clue what could be the cause of this? I'm running a fairly ok system (I think :()P4 2.8 Ghz processor1G ramATI Radeon 9800 Pro gfx cardI cannot find any consistancies in the crashes other than that I'm checking other windows while flying when this occurs while ASV is updating the weather in FS.Let me know if you guys need to have more info, I'll be happy to provide it for you.Marc
July 15, 200520 yr Hi Marc,Yes a strange one.Any error messages?Video driver up to date?Can you trigger it without ASV running?Hope this helps,JimActiveSky Sales and Supporthttp://www.hifisim.com/images/asv_dev_team.jpg http://www.hifisim.com/images/asv_proud_supporter.jpg
July 16, 200520 yr Hi Jim,Thanks for your reply. I never got any error messages when FS crashed this way (unfortunately). So I can't give you any more info in that area.My video drivers are recent, but I'll have another look if those have been updated in the meantime by any chance (just to make sure).I'll try it out a bit without running ASV and see if it then also happens. (doh, should have thought of that one myself :()I'll get back to you when I have tried these things.Marc
July 21, 200520 yr Hi again Jim,Just wanted to update you on my current situation with the odd crashes.I think I managed to nail this one myself by thoroughly reinstalling everything fs9.1 related including a proper clean up of old video drivers and reinstalling the latest versions (ATI Radeon 9800 Pro in my case). It seems that the crashes have gone for now. However, there is still this odd stutter every now and then (also when ASV is not updating the weather) which is definately ASV related. I'm just trying to narrow it down to when it happens (if I can). What actually happens is that for a brief moment the cockpit widow is switched off and back on again (as if someone was pressing the W key twice rapidly). It only seems to happen when ASV is running.I noticed that some users seem to have the same problem (by checking the forums) but I'll see if I can get some more specific information for you guys that you can work with.Let me know what info would be most valuable for you with regard to the "stutter".Marc
July 21, 200520 yr Hi,Thanks for the update! In FS04 try changing the Render to Texture option to the opposite it is now. Then see if that goes away.Hope this helps,JimActiveSky Sales and Supporthttp://www.hifisim.com/images/asv_dev_team.jpg http://www.hifisim.com/images/asv_proud_supporter.jpg
