July 17, 200520 yr Just curious; how long approx will it take from a METAR is issued at an airport in e g Sweden until I can download that METAR into my ASV and see the actual weather in FS?
July 17, 200520 yr Hi,Anywhere from 20 to 30 minutes.Hope this helps,JimActiveSky Sales and Supporthttp://www.hifisim.com/images/asv_dev_team.jpg http://www.hifisim.com/images/asv_proud_supporter.jpg
July 18, 200520 yr I fly alot on the west coast of sweden (ESGG, ESGP, ESMT, ESGT, ESGJ) and never get any fresher than one hour later. Sure it updates every 20/30 minutes but it's still behind realtime by one hour. It's no big problem but I hope the lag could be shortened.
July 18, 200520 yr If the new Active Sky program uses ADDS metar information,(Active Sky should update as specified to the program user interval)It updates whenever a new metar is issued. The ADDS Weather site is very persistent on updating METARS.(http://adds.aviationweather.noaa.gov/metars/)METAR updates are made at the top of each hour or whenever a significant change occurs. Now, if the program still uses NOAA Metar informaion, then the Active Sky downloads from:"http://weather.noaa.gov/weather/metar.shtml" isn't usually consistant on a timely basis with the weather you are currently seeing. This has been an issue of instrest. I use Active Sky wxRE. An the weather download isn't consistant because it's METAR source is http://weather.noaa.gov/weather/metar.shtml.(METAR UPDATES are not consistant from this site)If you compare an contrast the 2 websites with the same or different metars at the top of each hour. You'de see the relation.Example:As of now the current METARS from NOAA are 11:20 UTC from: ESGG, ESGP, ESMT, ESGT - 07:20, ESGJ.From ADDS Weather, the current metars are 13:20.Big difference.
