July 26, 200520 yr Hi,Thanks for the purchase, welcome to Active Sky, thanks for re-posting here!1. In FS the weather must be set on User Defined, but after that you never need to visit that FS screen again.2. Now for that one we will need to know your ASV settings. In your ASV folder there is a file called ASV.ini You can open that file with Notepad or Wordpad, copy and paste its contents and paste them into a reply. I'll be back later to check on this!3. FE works with ASV so no interference there.Hope this helps,JimActiveSky Sales and Supporthttp://www.hifisim.com/images/asv_dev_team.jpg http://www.hifisim.com/images/asv_proud_supporter.jpg

Thank you.
July 27, 200520 yr Hi,You will get them if the METAR calls for them. We need to understand that both those settings are "psuedo" settings. What do I mean by that? Let's look at them one at a time:The FS9 Haze was added by MS to attempt to create a softer look. It is pseudo because it is a fake layer of clouds that follow you wherever you go, and it is not based on any weather conditions. Many users like that island of haze, so we included the option. Will you completely lose all haze? No, not if the METAR calls for low visibility. The Fog Layer Generation is there to generate a layer of clouds when there is low visibility, but no clouds reported. Now, really this is not so pseudo because FS04 uses cloud layers to control visibility. This can help in areas such as West CA where you get those days of ocean fog rolling in, low visibility, but no clouds reported. I would try with this option Off and then On and see which you like the best.Hope this helps,JimActiveSky Sales and Supporthttp://www.hifisim.com/images/asv_dev_team.jpg http://www.hifisim.com/images/asv_proud_supporter.jpg
July 28, 200520 yr Ok I have tried the settings that you recommended and it seems to have remedied the sudden haze problem but now I notice 2 other things. If there's rainy weather, the clouds will initially load up very dark and stormy but a few seconds later they change to a lighter color. Lastly, I've noticed that small clouds in the distance are almost popping up or sometimes you can actually see them being drawn. Any ideas? Thank you.
July 28, 200520 yr Hi,The color thing is your system loading all the weather. The distant cloud thing is due to the fact that they are not drawn in detail until they are closer to you. You can reduce cloud draw distance to 30 or 40 in FS or reduce your maximum visibility in ASV.Hope this helps,JimActiveSky Sales and Supporthttp://www.hifisim.com/images/asv_dev_team.jpg http://www.hifisim.com/images/asv_proud_supporter.jpg
July 29, 200520 yr The sudden haze change I believe is a FS short comming, while setting visibility lower can help I dont think there is a way to totally get rid of it.
July 29, 200520 yr Just purchased Active Sky last night. Great product so far but I have a couple of questions. For realtime weather updates does my weather inside FS9 have to be set to USER DEFINED or REALTIME UPDATES? My second question is that I've noticed that haze or fog can just suddenly appear and then dissappear, is'nt the whole point of Active Sky to avoid these sudden changes? Do I have something configured incorrectly? I also have Flight Environment installed as well so I hope there's no interference between the 2 packages. Thank you.
