AS4.5 B193 Download Question

Featured Replies

Morning all.Just watching the debacle at Heathrow presently....I can imagine BA's 'revenge' will be swift and sure when this crisis passes..Anyway, have a little anomoly I wanted to discuss. Have created a flight between Boise and Vancouver, with ten waypoints.Have downloaded AS and I got 362 of 370K's downloaded.I'm now looking at the screen "Processing - please wait while your new routs data is processed blah blah blah..."Thing is - I've been looking at it now for about 20 minutes! I'm about to 'kill' it and proceed with flight and see what happens, but is there anything I should change to recitify this problem? It happens say about 10% of the downloads I do.Another related, but not so important question I have is, why is each download always "xxxK of 370K"? Wouldn't the total download amount change depending on how much weather is being downloaded for the area? By this I mean, wouldn't a flight through a thunderstorm be say 400K, and a flight over a desert with nothing but clear skies and sunshine be say, I dunno, 170K?Thankss muchly, look forward to any comments. Jim??EDIT::: I've just noticed the config file below shows B174, but the AS screen shows B193 in the bottom right-hand corner! Which I (apparently incorrectly!) installed earlier this week. I've looked in Windows Explorer, and in Modules where AS shows, there's only one AS 2kb configuration file. Would the running of the update not have changed this?? And if I didn't do it correctly, why does the AS download screen show B193?Questions, questions. Hope you're in a patient mood today Jim!! : )Argghhhh.....help!//AS2004.5 configuration file B174[General]WindowPosX = 105WindowPosY = 105DefaultWeatherFolder = C:Program FilesMicrosoft GamesFlight Simulator 9ModulesActiveSky2004SuppressionCeiling = 4000SurfaceWindLimit = 10CloudLayerLimit = 5LocalSuppressionRange = 100MinimumVisibility = 0MaximumVisibility = 59IncreasedWake = FalseDisableWindsAloft = FalseForceTstormsWithCB = TrueAutoConvertPlanFiles = TrueDisableVisGraduation = FalseForceDestinationWeatherZone = TruePreventIcing = FalseOnlineUpdates = TrueExtendedDestinationWindsForce = FalseDisableAllGroundUpdates = FalseGlobalWrites = TrueDepictFS9HazeLayer = FalseExtendTstormLayers = FalseDisableDirectWindControl = FalseVoicePlayback = TrueLocalSuppression = TrueStartupSound = TrueDisableGroundUpdates = FalseUseProxyServer = FalseFogLayerGeneration = FalseUpdateSuppression = TrueOvercastEnhancement = TrueIgnoreFSReadyStatus = FalseFSUIPCWindSmoothing = TrueLimitSurfaceWinds = FalseLimitCloudLayers = TrueAutoGlobalWriteToggle = TrueRainWithTS = TrueDisableUpperLayerGeneration = FalseVisibilitySmoothing = TrueDisableMessages = FalseAutoTimeZoneDetection = TrueUpdateInterval = 10VATSIMData = FalseZuluConversion = 12AloftPredictability = 100WindDriftRate = 0TAFProcessing = TrueEnforceVisibilityLimits = TrueWakeTurb = TrueStartPaused = FalseUseSystemTime = TrueDisableCAVOKClouds = FalseProxyAddress = NONELastPlanFolder = C:Documents and SettingsTim McGeeMy DocumentsFlight Simulator FilesCheersTim

Hi Tim,It's been a long day here, but I'm OK!First, the flight plan stuff. Not sure what you used to plan that flight, but sometimes a waypoint gets entered that AS doesn't know what to do with so the process stops. Usually this happens with a 3rd party planner that might have a different database. On your observation of the downloads: Those numbers just pretty much show progress of the download. Remember, on every download you are getting worldwide data so the local conditions don't matter. That way you can jump from place to place in FS and the data will be there. With ASV it even checks to see that a new download is not even needed. For your Build codes: That is a good eye and not too many users would even notice. You were wide awake to notice!! Your update is good because the main screen shows B193. To get the config file to change go into your options and even without changing a thing, click on the Save button. Then I'll bet the build number will change. While at the options screen, see if there are any new settings for you to look at. Pretty sure it's just the Download Throttling option that is new.Well, I think that is it. Let me know about the planner stuff and everything else. Hope this helps,JimActiveSky Sales and Supporthttp://www.hifisim.com/images/asv_dev_team.jpg http://www.hifisim.com/images/asv_proud_supporter.jpg

Thanks Jim. Got to be quick as doing a flash dinner and cooking shellfish for the first time for the missus. I hate the stuff, and let's hope she doesn't end up in hospital with some horrid kind of food poisoining!!!Anyway, just the plain jane FS flightplanning stuff, no 3rd party.Worldwide download? I thought you mentioned in a previous post it just pulls in weather from 200nm around? Guess I misunderstood that.Gotta go, something's burning! Will talk more later.Tim

So....and this is probably dumb but....what if the flight is longer than 200nm? Let's say I do a flight for 300nm. Melbourne to Sydney, for arguments sake. I download the weather and process it. Will I only get AS weather for the first 200nm out of Melbourne? What happens for the last 100?Assuming I'm not staying on-line for continual updates.CheersTim

Ahhh yes. Okay, I'll give you that one!Not Fosters by the way - that's a horrid Aussie beer. We have better standards of liquid refreshment in NZ.Thanks Jim.Cheers
