August 17, 200520 yr I have an unusual setup at home:A home cockpit with project magenta and 4 computers.Computer 1 (my fastest) runs flight sim with all its controllers.Computer 2 runs the PFD and Active Sky directed at flight sim on Computer 1Computer 3 runs the EICASComputer 4 runs the CDU.Now Im setting up a station for flying helicopters.Computer 1 (not used)Computer 2 runs another copy of FS another set of controllers and Active sky, all directed to another monitor.Computer 3 not usedComputer 4 not used. Now, how can I tell Active Sky to direct the weather away from the FS on Computer 1 and into the FS on Computer 2???Is there an .ini file I can swap back and forth??Ive looked under the options button and didnt see it.(P.S. this is one of those I-am-thinking-about-this-at-work ideas, and so I cant try it out here)John WhiteNewburgh
August 17, 200520 yr Hi John,I thought long and hard about this one before posting:My first idea was just to say install ASV on Comp 1 and run it directly, but I know you are trying to save CPU cycles in your home cockpit.Another idea that MAY work is this: In your ASV folder there is a file called ASV.ini One line reads FS9Path:XXXXXXXX. Just editing that one entry to point to FS on comp 2 may do it. Then editing that one line on each change may be easy. Of course flipping ini's is possible also. The Boss is calling to eat. Got to go!!Hope this helps,JimActiveSky Sales and Supporthttp://www.hifisim.com/images/asv_dev_team.jpg http://www.hifisim.com/images/asv_proud_supporter.jpg
August 18, 200520 yr Hey, Jim:Yeah, that did it. I at first looked for something like that in the .ini file but mustve read right over it.I just commented it out, typed in the new directory and it worked. Now when I go back to my CRJ cockpit, I just do the opposite with the new line.It just shows how much I view Active sky as a part of my flight simming now in that flying isnt the same without it. I know weather is weather, but it just adds immeasurably to the experience to know the weather outside my window is so beautifully and richly rendered inside ithe sim.Keep up the good work.John
August 18, 200520 yr Hi John,Thanks for the kind words and I am glad things worked out!Hope this helps,JimActiveSky Sales and Supporthttp://www.hifisim.com/images/asv_dev_team.jpg http://www.hifisim.com/images/asv_proud_supporter.jpg
August 22, 200520 yr Jim:I was just thinking while running some errands today..Does ASV copy textures to the FS folders? It occurred to me that, if it does, then I will have to do a reinstall on the other computer where Im running flight sim.If not, no problem.I havent been able to test it at my home airport, because its been clear as a bell here for two days.John
August 22, 200520 yr Hi,It does if you are using AE. But if you edit that line, even AE will send the textures in the correct direction.Hope this helps,JimActiveSky Sales and Supporthttp://www.hifisim.com/images/asv_dev_team.jpg http://www.hifisim.com/images/asv_proud_supporter.jpg
