August 20, 200520 yr Hi Jim and Damian,so far, I'm very happy with ASV.I suggest you a new option in the next update:"force CB with thunderstorm"...That's because sometimes it happens that the METAR "misses" the CB designator when TS are present (check this KCOS METAR: KCOS 162223Z 31010G23KT 3SM TSRA FEW041 SCT055 BKN075 18/11 A3021).Best regards.
August 20, 200520 yr Hi There,Is this different than "Force Thunderstorms with CB"?Hope this helps,JimActiveSky Sales and Supporthttp://www.hifisim.com/images/asv_dev_team.jpg http://www.hifisim.com/images/asv_proud_supporter.jpg
August 20, 200520 yr Hi Jim, It is 180 degrees...:-) the option we have is to force the effects of the thunderstorm when the CBs are present.....in this case he wants the CB clouds to show when the 'TSRA' is present and CBs aren't reported in the ceilings section....I thought the same for a moment but then I saw what our current option is....:)
August 20, 200520 yr Hi All,If that is the case then I am not sure for the reason for the request. There were clouds reported albeit not CBs, but thunderstorms can happen and be reported without CBs. This would mean that every TSRA would produce CBs.Am I thinking right here?Hope this helps,JimActiveSky Sales and Supporthttp://www.hifisim.com/images/asv_dev_team.jpg http://www.hifisim.com/images/asv_proud_supporter.jpg
August 22, 200520 yr Hi Jim,yes, I would like this option, that is, force CB when TS is reported. Because, by definition, TS exist only when CB are present (CB are also called thunderclouds...). It happens sometimes that the obeserver forgets to append the "CB" qualifier at one of the clouds layers when reporting a TS or a TSRA in his area. This wasn't the case till 1993 when the world format required all types of clouds reported in type and octas (eg: 4CU030 2CB035).Thanks.
August 22, 200520 yr Hi,I'll put this on my list!Hope this helps,JimActiveSky Sales and Supporthttp://www.hifisim.com/images/asv_dev_team.jpg http://www.hifisim.com/images/asv_proud_supporter.jpg
