September 10, 200520 yr Hello,I'm using ASV for online flying on VATSIM. However I do not use FS9 flightplans (well, there is a big problem with FS9 nav database - you can not update it when some new navpoints in the real life are introduced!). I use some external flightplaning utilities. The problem is that, as far as I know, I HAVE TO LOAD A FS9 FLIGHTPLAN to use VATSIM weather data (correct me, if I'm wrong...)Well, the procedure is for me now quite complicated... First I use my third party flightplaning utility and I have a flightplan. Then I open FS and create a second fligtplan in FS9 format. I close FS (since withuot re-opening it the weather would not update - am I right?). Then I open ASV, load and process the flightplan, and finally reload the FS.Since I have many add-ons and a rather slow computer, every FS start takes about 5 minutes and for the whole procedure I need about 15 minutes..My questions are:- is there a way to make it simplier, quicker with the current version of ASV?- if not, any chance for some improvment in the next ActiveSky versionAdditionally, does someone know an utility which converts flightplans to the FS9 format?Best regards,Michael
September 10, 200520 yr Hi,Weather will update, but new textures will not show up until the next time you start FS9.Right now just FS9 plans. Not sure about the future!Depends on the plan. You never stated what you are using!! Hope this helps,JimActiveSky Sales and Supporthttp://www.hifisim.com/images/asv_dev_team.jpg http://www.hifisim.com/images/asv_proud_supporter.jpg
September 10, 200520 yr Well, I use EUroute (http://www.euroutepro.com/)It's a little bit difficult, since EUroute provides flightplans in the ATC format (not all fixes listed, only airways, for example EPKK DCT JED M866 ARDAG EPWA. I know that converting airways (M866) into separate waypoint would be difficult. However if I may suggest one thing: a possibility to add waypoints manualy rather then to process the FS9 flightplan would be great. In my example I could enter manually EPKK as orgin, EPWA as destination and JED and ARDAG as waypoints - it won't be 100% accurate, but the deviation is not big. However I suppose JED is not enough for ASV, you need coordinates, do you...Anyway thanks,MJZ
September 10, 200520 yr One thing more...If I open FS, load a flight, create a FS9 flightplan, import it into ASV and then hit ESC in FS and create a new flight or load another one (without fully quiting FS), will cloud textures update?I mean do textures update every time when the scenery is re-loaded (black screen), or only on full FS startup?MJZ
September 10, 200520 yr Hi,Only cirrus.Full FS startup.Hope this helps,JimActiveSky Sales and Supporthttp://www.hifisim.com/images/asv_dev_team.jpg http://www.hifisim.com/images/asv_proud_supporter.jpg
