October 25, 200520 yr Hi!I am wondering if it may be possible to add a function that allows several instances of ASV to fetch from one "client" ? I am thinking if I and some friends of mine are flying an MP session, we all use ASV-enhanced, but in this MP mode, one user sets his ASV to act as a "server" that will submit the WX once updated to the other connected "clients" ?Like this we are garanteed that all have same weather...just an idea... any thoughts ?Freddy
October 25, 200520 yr Hi,You can already. Just have everyone use ASV and be in Online Mode. Then, if everyone is at the same airport, the HiFi Data Net will send the EXACT same data to everyone.Or am I missing something here!!??Hope this helps,JimActiveSky Sales and Supporthttp://www.hifisim.com/images/asv_dev_team.jpg http://www.hifisim.com/images/asv_proud_supporter.jpg
October 25, 200520 yr I recon you are right, but how about the timing issue ?... How often does ASV refresh weather from the server. if two MP users refresh differently, the wx may be different some minutes...And also: I one user has the VATSIM Weather ticked, and another dont ?.. Maybe an idea also to have an option to export the settings from ASV, so it easily can be sent and importet to other users..Well.. still open for some ideas here :)Freddy
October 25, 200520 yr Hi,METARs are updated once per hour.Unless using the VATSIM ATC system why would anyone have that option checked On?The export of settings is difficult because everyone has FS04 installed in different locations and their weather folder are called something different. However, the exchange of ASV.ini files would give you the other settings. The problem in all of this would be to configure ASV to pull weather from a client machine after that client machine has already download and processed encrypted data. Then the data is no longer encrypted.Another suggestion is to use Offline Mode and Share the same weather file by sending the file to everyone who is flying. Like: "here is the weather file everyone. Load this one up!"Hope this helps,JimActiveSky Sales and Supporthttp://www.hifisim.com/images/asv_dev_team.jpg http://www.hifisim.com/images/asv_proud_supporter.jpg
October 25, 200520 yr Ok..Guess my questions are all answered :)..But then,, IF I download weather and use it in offline mode,. does it contain data for the entire world ?Freddy
October 25, 200520 yr Hi,Yes, in about a 1.1MB file.Hope this helps,JimActiveSky Sales and Supporthttp://www.hifisim.com/images/asv_dev_team.jpg http://www.hifisim.com/images/asv_proud_supporter.jpg
