October 26, 200520 yr Jim & Chris, With your infinate knowledge of all that is skybound, do you have any suggestions on how to get rid of the stars appearing directly off the horizon from dawn to dusk. I have messed a bit with pollution and visibility, but those pesky night stars just beam through. I love stars above, and even when climbing in my jet after passing the cloud tops, but when at low levels or on the ground it is a major annoyance. Maybe an FS9 limitation? Or maybe you have some helpfull hints!!Thanks all,Neil :)
October 26, 200520 yr Hi Neil,From dawn to dusk would mean during the day. I have never seen such a thing in FS04.The stars do move fairly accurately at night. Do these move if you accelerate the time? Are you using any stars add-on files?Hope this helps,JimActiveSky Sales and Supporthttp://www.hifisim.com/images/asv_dev_team.jpg http://www.hifisim.com/images/asv_proud_supporter.jpg
October 27, 200520 yr Jim, hi -oops, reverse what I said...dusk to dawn is what I meant. And I do use the add-on which adds a million stars and constellations in the sky, realstars? Can't remember the name - a freeware download. I guess my quest was to "dim", or lessen the intensity through some trickery of the stars directly on the horizon, as it is quite un-natural for the dusk/dawn hours, as well as urban areas to see stars so close to the edge of earth. I do understand that in extreme rural areas, at least after dark, that stars directly in front on the horizon can be just as bright as stars above, but again was wondering if anyone had any tricks to dim these out. Thanks Jim for responding. Hope I made it a bit clearer???Neil :)
October 27, 200520 yr Hi,OK I know what you mean now! No, there really isn't. I worked a bit with the author of RealStars and I know the only way to control the brightness is through the number of pixels drawn on the screen. To get the planets to show up brightly we had to increase the number of pixels for those planets.Hope this helps,JimActiveSky Sales and Supporthttp://www.hifisim.com/images/asv_dev_team.jpg http://www.hifisim.com/images/asv_proud_supporter.jpg
