Small performance problems / ASV 6

Featured Replies

Hi,first of all thanks for the excellent upgrade !I have two computers and on my older P4 2.0 Laptop I have some performance problems now. With ASV5E I had 128*128 textures with DXT3 and MipMaps enabled. Now with ASV6 I have approximately 30% less fps with 64*64 textures and DXT3 enabled. I could not find any option for Mipmaps !?Not meant as a complaint, I am of course not a measure with that old Laptop. But would you recommend to go back to ASV5 in such a case ?Mike

Thanks Mike,MIPS are now automatically Enabled so that is not it.I have to ask: you did submit the new textures to FS04? Just making sure!In Active Sky 6 you may need to revisit your settings like Limit Cloud Layers and visibility. Are those the same as before?Hope this helps,JimActiveSky Sales and Supporthttp://www.hifisim.com/images/asv_dev_team.jpg http://www.hifisim.com/images/asv_proud_supporter.jpg

Jim,hmmm, it's really weird. I use the same settings as before and get this 30% fps hit. When climbing or descending through clouds, I get sudden fps breakdowns (down to 2-3 fps). All this did not happen with ASV5E. I have saved a situation and made a direct comparison with carefully checking identical settings, it really confirms the 30% loss.On my Laptop, I'm back to ASV5E for now. If I look in the forum, it seems I'm the only one affected by this. One of those FS mysteries.Mike
