ASV6 Radar problem

Featured Replies

Hi all,I just purchased ASV6 yesterday, and all seems well except for there is no precipitation shown in the radar. Looking back over previous posts, I have uninstalled/reinstalled, ensured that it was visibly raining out my window, and verified that there was an entry other than 'none' on the precip line for the nearest station. I have never had a previous version of Active Sky installed, nor do I have any other add on modules (active camera, etc.) The only things I have added are aircraft and terrain meshes. Not sure what to try next. Any suggestions? My plane is shown at the correct airport in the radar display and the wind speed/direction indicator shows up as well. Tried changing the update number, no luck.Eric

I think this is what you want (my aircraft is sitting on the runway at KSAT and it is raining, see clouds and lightning)KSAT 000000Z 04022G35KT 020V200 5SM BKN010 TSRW 18/16 A2980This is what happened when I forced the thunderstorm weather at KSAT using the Wx Configurator.

Hi,OK, that is what it is. There are some precipitation codes that AR does not recognize and TSRW is one of them. Try this, go back to Online weather and go to KDTW. You should get rain returns all day today. Please let us know.Hope this helps,Jimhttp://www.hifisim.comhttp://sales.hifisim.com/pub-download/asv6...development.jpg http://sales.hifisim.com/pub-download/asv6-banner-proud.jpg http://sales.hifisim.com/pub-download/asv6-banner-beta.jpg

I am having similar problems. No Wideview installed either. Different terrain map for uk. Hi David,There is no precipitation in that METAR. BR stands for mist. I copied and pasted it into Wx Configurator and it doesn't rrecognize any precipitation either.Still plenty of precipitation around KDTW, it's been grey and wet all day. At least it's not snow!Hope this helps,Jimhttp://www.hifisim.comhttp://sales.hifisim.com/pub-download/asv6...development.jpg http://sales.hifisim.com/pub-download/asv6-banner-proud.jpg http://sales.hifisim.com/pub-download/asv6-banner-beta.jpg

I may have posted the wrong thing there...........This is the metar reportEGPF 000000Z 12078KT 7SM OVC030 OVC070 BKN100 +RA 20/19 A2969And it was p+ssing down ;-)dp

O.k, I've seen precipitation on the AR now thanks. I guess I figured a sure fire way to see rain was to force a thunder storm in the WX confiurator, but it doesn't work that way.I see now that I can find a location where there is weather that I'm interested in. That is a cool feature. Everywhere I look, there are more features (a good thing, but a bit of a learning curve). One more quick question: the little wind indicator in active radar that shows direction and speed... is that for the current altitude I'm at or surface conditions? Thanks for all the assistance!

Hi,It's not so much the t-storm, but the code used. The wind arrow is at your altitude, based on the true direction. If this is way off, you may be experiencing FSUIPC issues that Pete has fixed in the past 2 weeks. Version 3.53 should work well.Hope this helps,Jimhttp://www.hifisim.comhttp://sales.hifisim.com/pub-download/asv6...development.jpg http://sales.hifisim.com/pub-download/asv6-banner-proud.jpg http://sales.hifisim.com/pub-download/asv6-banner-beta.jpg

Well, good news !It's working now.I am not sure if the uninstall/reinstall cycle was what made it work or the choice of a snow as the weather to test it with. Certainly, when I use the Thunderstorm and Hurricane options it doesn't show anything on the radar. Thanks VERY much for all the help, it's really appreciated !David P.
