Am I starting AS6 right?

Featured Replies

I'd appreciate if the AS6 support team could confirm for me whether I'm running everything the right way or not. The reason I ask this is because despite having a cloud resolution of 256x256 and having DXT3 cloud textures, I find that the clouds look like 32Bit cloud textures and the framerates aren't great. >I start up AS6>Once loaded I start up ASG and find that my quick select theme is already selected so I click on 'Send to FS'>I close ASG>I enter a flightplan>I start up FS and do flightIs everything I'm doing right there? Also I don't have anything set for auto-submit on the options so that can't be the culprit for this reduction in fps. I'm unsure of whether this fps reduction is due to the installation of SU2 like a lot of people are having problems with or whether its to do with the way I'm starting everything up.Hope you can help...Cheers,James

Thanks for your reply Jim, I've double-checked that my textures are set to DXT3 and the resolution is at 256x256. My ASG ini file is below:[ASG_Saved_Configuration_Values]FS9Folder = "C:Program FilesMicrosoft GamesFlight Simulator 9"CloudResolution = "256"DXT3Option = "True"KeepASGRunning = "False"CloseASGwithAS = "True"CurrentTheme = "Personal"I don't get how the clouds in my fs are as detailed as they are despite me having a resolution of 256x256 and DXT3 textures.

Hi,Try this:Close FS04.Submit a set of textures to FS04.Open the FS04/Texture folder and find the cumulus1.bmp file.Right mouse click on it and go to Properties and see if the modified date/time is from when you did the submit. Also, 256 clouds are still pretty detailed even with DXT enabled. Drop to 128 and see if you notice a difference under the same weather conditions.Hope this helps,Jimhttp://www.hifisim.comhttp://sales.hifisim.com/pub-download/asv6...development.jpg http://sales.hifisim.com/pub-download/asv6-banner-proud.jpg
