New Install -- WIN2K Operating System / WideFS

Featured Replies

Sorry for the newbie question that I researched before posting. I installed AS6 FULL yesterday on my FS9 PC. The performance hit is dramatic so I am now considering moving it to my networked PC to 1) improve FS9 performance and 2) to be able to interface with the AS control panel during flight.1) Will my FS9 performance improve with AS6 running on WideFS?2) Will AS run on my network PC that uses WIN2K?3) What is the best way of moving AS at this point in my installation process?Thank you,Terry Eshenour

Hi Terry,Not a problem!1. The performance issue will not go away by moving ASv6. We need to look at your specific system and settings to find a workable combination. For that, you can help us by posting your system specs and other programs that you are running along with ASv6.2. Yes it will.3. Ininstall ASv6. Make sure you have a registered copy of FSUIPC. Install ASv6 on the networked computer. Read the documentation for specific file and folder sharings that must be in place. Yes, it is nice to see ASv6 while flying.Hope this helps,Jimhttp://www.hifisim.comhttp://sales.hifisim.com/pub-download/asv6...development.jpg http://sales.hifisim.com/pub-download/asv6-banner-proud.jpg

OK Great,You are pushing things quite hard here both graphicly and CPU power-wise, so:1. use 256 clouds or lower.2. limit you cloud layers to 33. lower your cloud draw distance to 304. reduce your AI traffic. Set it to zero to really see what your system can do!5. lock your frame rate to 25.6. try with a default jetNow, try these things out and let us know!Hope this helps,Jimhttp://www.hifisim.comhttp://sales.hifisim.com/pub-download/asv6...development.jpg http://sales.hifisim.com/pub-download/asv6-banner-proud.jpg

I had good results using the changes that you suggested. Thank you for the suggestions. The reduction in layers from 5 to 3 had the greatest impact 12 fps to 22 fps. Cloud draw distance from 40 mi to 30 mi improved also from 22 to 28 (video locked at 28 fps). I used the default 737 for the initial tests.I then swithced to hte PMDG 738. The fps as expected dropped from 28 fps to 22 fps.
