FS2002 reinstall

Recommended Posts

Guest gasebah

Hi guys,as a result of virus and other problems I will have to revert my system partition (together with FS2002) with an image from summer. A lot of stuff in FS2002 and many addons have changed since then. What kind of experience did you make when you simply copied the backed up FS2002 folders over an earlier installation of FS2002. Will this work or must I expect serious problems. Are there any clues or things I have to take special care of?Any advice appreciated.Alex

There should be no problem with it, as long as the FS reinstall is going to the same drive and folder. I have reinstalled my FS several times and done just that with no problems.1. Do the FULL FS2002 install (keep the same path as in previous install)2. Reinstall the backed up FS2002 into this installation and overwrite the files with the ones from back up.Keep in mind that some registry entries will be lost. A reinstall of some addons maybe necessary, if a problem is found. You will also want to update some files with newer releases, updates/patches. Pete S

Thx Pete,an answer finally. I will not have to do the complete reinstall because as I said there is an image from Summer at my hands. However all the changes between summer and today are not included. I have backed these up on another partition.I hope this will work out right.Thx again,Alex
