ASv6 problem connecting to the internet

Featured Replies

Not sure where to start. I had to reinstall Win XP and FS9. FS9 will not connect to the internet for the weather. FS9 works fine on another PC here. I purchased ASv6 and it appears to have the same problem connecting to the internet. It starts, initilizes and then just keeps says it's 'connecting to HiFi Datanet" and thats all it does. I installed the ASv6 program on that other PC and it works perfectly (as near as I can tell anyway). It starts inits, then d/l's 390K worth of data and it fills the top 3 box's with the closest reporting station data(KLAS) in this case. I guess the question would be, is there some setting I have missed on this machine for ASv6? I have uninstalled and reinstalled both FS9 and ASv6 on the machine in question. Since this started after the install of XP I have to think something went wrong with the install, although all other aspects of the internet are fine and it has never failed to get on the internet. I do not connect through a proxy server ( I saw that option in ASv6).I did have one problem with the install of XP with the 'windows installer " program, but after downloading the windows installer program and (re) installing it that problem appeared to go away.I was told to post here before re-installing XP once again. I've been running XP since it came out and this is the first time I have had a problem with flight simulator. Any ideas?Thanks...Chip..

Most of it's work is on incoming things, although it does checj outgoing email messages.Thanks...Chip..

>Hi,>>Could be Norton. Even off it has some processes that still run>and sometimes block stuff. Allow ASv6 access in Norton.>>Can you access and browse our site? http://www.hifisim.com/>>Hope this helps,ALL FIXED Jim. It was Zone Alarm. It is suppose to come up when a new program is asking for access to the internet and it has not been doing that, but then it didn't even look like it was loaded. Didn't show up in the task manager, nor was it in the system tray. I opened it by clicking on the icon it 'programs' and found ASv6 and gave it access to the internet. it's also fixed FS9!Thanks for all the suggestions. Now to learn how to use ASv6. Do I turn off the auto updating in FS9 so that ASv6 can do it's thing?Thanks...Chip..
