Online weather updates

Hi - Please can someone help me. I have ActiveSky v6, but for some reason the only weather station that it defaults to is the Seattle one. If I fly anywhere in the world, what do I need to do to ensure that the latest METAR is downloaded from that local weather station? Please can someone give me the process here ? I would really appreciate it.ThanksDarren

Hi Darren,Sorry you are having a problem.Do you have FSUIPC.dll installed in your Modules folder? When you run ASv6 and FS does ASv6 give a message that FS04 is not running?Do you have ASv6 set to Start Paused? Is the KSEA METAR up to date or old data? Please let us know!Hope this helps,Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/Active Sky V6 Development TeamActive Sky V6 Proud SupporterHiFi Beta TeamRadar Contact Supporter

Hi Jim,Gee, I do not actually know where to start. 1)I have a file called FSUI.dll in my modules folder but not fsuipc.dll2) I always run the Wx engine before I start flight sim.3) Not sure where I see if ASv6 is set to start paused4) Why am i supposed to pick up KSEA METAR and not the METAR for my local station? How does that work?ThanksDarren

Hi Darren,OK, we'll get this! It looks like things are not connected so here we go! If you read through things and have questions then ask away!1. Go here and download FSUIPC:http://www.schiratti.com/dowson.html2. Now, you will have a zip file from this download.3. Open the zip file and inside will be a number of files. Find only the FSUIPC.dll file and copy the one file only.4. Open your FS04/Modules folder and paste this file into the folder.5. Start ASv6 and let things download and process.6. Start FS04 and watch. ASv6 should now recognize your position and give you the current weather for your location.Let me know how things go!Hope this helps,Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/Active Sky V6 Development TeamActive Sky V6 Proud SupporterHiFi Beta TeamRadar Contact Supporter

With reference to FSUIPC.dll - does it HAVE to be the registered version in order for active sky v6 to work properly for my needs?ThanksDarren

Hi,No, not at all. I use the free version, mostly for testing. It's good to support Pete and his efforts though!Hope this helps,Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/Active Sky V6 Development TeamActive Sky V6 Proud SupporterHiFi Beta TeamRadar Contact Supporter

Hi Jim.Ok I downloaded the FSUIPC file. Now when I go to a particular airport, and I minimize fs2004 and go to the wx engine, I can see the METAR details for that airport. So we are getting closer to a solution here. But now the problem is that unless I minimize fs2004, go to wx engine and do a refresh update of the weather stations I real weather does not update in fs2004.Why do I have to go out of fs2004, go in to wx engine, update and then only go back to fs2004? Am I doing something wrong?ThanksDarren

Hi,OK let's see what happens now:1. Start ASv6 and let it load up.2. Start FS04 and do not leave FS04. Watch for up to 5 minutes. Does the weather update?Hope this helps,Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/Active Sky V6 Development TeamActive Sky V6 Proud SupporterHiFi Beta TeamRadar Contact Supporter
