Do Offline Updates Revert To Online Updates?

Featured Replies

Hi guys,I would like to know whether offline updates revert to online updates automatically when it is needed please? For example, if a flight I want to do that is 12 hours long departs at say 6am UTC but I start it at 10am UTC, I can download the past 4 hours archives and use that actual weather for the first 4 hours, but after that does ASv6 automatically switch to online updates so I continue to get the latest weather during the flight or do I need to switch online updates on myself when the archived weather finishes?Cheers in advance.

Hi,No, things will not automatically switch. ASv6 will use the most current Offline weather file and check that file to see if it should use the METAR or the TAF, if you have TAF Processing On.Yes, your option would be to manually switch.Hope this helps,Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/Active Sky V6 Development TeamActive Sky V6 Proud SupporterHiFi Beta TeamRadar Contact Supporter

Cheers Jim, that did help. Can I request for this to be added to the wishlist please for a future version? It would be great if AS could intelligently revert to Online Updates when the archived updates have been utilised up so that everything is seemless.Cheers again.

Hi,Sure, we'll see if Damian can work this out. The only problem that quickly comes to mind is that there may be a big jump in the weather conditions, expecially the winds.Hope this helps,Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/Active Sky V6 Development TeamActive Sky V6 Proud SupporterHiFi Beta TeamRadar Contact Supporter

Cheers, that would be great.I understand your point though, but hopefully it would be as seemless as say having online updates set to do every 60 minutes rather than the default 10 minutes, or even if AS could intellgently integrate online updates into the tail end of an offline update (in stages), thereby easing the sudden jump from 1 hour to the next.Cheers again Jim.
