May 31, 200620 yr Hi, all:I would like to be able to do the following, but am not certain it would work.1) Connect to the internet.2) Import a flightplan/route into AS6.3) Download the appropriate weather.4) Send the weather to FS9 via AS6.5) Disconnect from the internet.6) Close AS6.I know you may be asking why I want to close AS6, but the reasons for this are too long to explain here.My question is whether or not AS6 would be able to download all the appropriate weather for my route and have that downloaded weather usable through the flight. They key for me is to NOT have AS6 continually updating the weather; I want it to load all the weather at the appropriate stations and then be able to close it down.Additionally.. I'm a little uncertain as to what TAF Processing is and what it does as it relates to *offline mode*. I realize I'd have to have AS6 running to use it, but I'm just a little curious as to what it does. Thanks for any info.
May 31, 200620 yr Hi,Thanks for your interest!Without asking why I will do my best to answer your questions. In general what you want to do would work only if your route is less than 200 miles. A single download does contain worldwide weather, but we only send a 200 mile radius worth of data to FS04. Without ASv6 running, once you flew outside this radius, there would be no more data in FS04 for it to use.TAF processing is used when the METAR data is older than the TAF. This can happen when the Offline file is not around the time set in FS04. It is also used if a station has not reported in a number of hours and the METAR is older than the TAF.Please ask if you have other questions.Hope this helps,Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/Active Sky V6 Development TeamActive Sky V6 Proud SupporterHiFi Beta TeamRadar Contact Supporter
June 15, 200619 yr Sorry, I missed your response, otherwise I would have thanked you earlier. Thanks very much for the information. Actually, the 200-mile limit will work well for my VFR flights, so it all works out well.
