When I choose a some graphics in AS Graphics, the choose "Select this item", click "Send to FS", and then restart FS9, the graphics don't take in FS9. Is there anything special you need to do? What could it be?bgier

Hi,How are you determining that the textures did not take in FS04? Don't judge by the preview pics, because your weather data will be different then the data used in the preview pic.Hope this helps,Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/Active Sky V6 Development TeamActive Sky V6 Proud SupporterHiFi Beta TeamRadar Contact Supporter

No, that really did not help. I have tried it both with going into the AS6 engine first and also without the engine and ASG alone. I tried many themes and the weather in FS04 was identical each time. The standard FS04 sunny weather. I even tried changing FS04 options to say "User Defined Weather" after applying the theme in ASG.How do I get themes in ASG to apply to FS04 without using any real weather data? What is the point to ASG if you're just gonna overwrite the chosen theme with real weather data? I guess I don't understand the relationship between the ASG and AS engine. What if I just want the theme weather from ASG? Please help become I am lost. This is a present for my father for his b-day. I would like to get it working for him. I am a computer geek and a pretty good troubelshooter and can't figure out/understand this.BGier

Hi,Not a problem! A common mis-conception is that the stuff in ASG contains weather data and this is not the case. Anything in ASG are textures only. We call them themes and they are texture themes, not weather themes. Now, you are also saying that you are not getting weather into FS04. This is a different problem. Some questions about this:Is FSUIPC.dll installed in the modules folder? When you run ASv6 and FS04, does ASv6 recognize your current location? Is ASv6 set to use Online Updates? So look this over and we'll be here to get you up and running for you and for your father!Hope this helps,Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/Active Sky V6 Development TeamActive Sky V6 Proud SupporterHiFi Beta TeamRadar Contact Supporter

No, ASV6 is fine. When I use on-line or off-line updates, the weather in FS04 looks just like the weather out my window. I can search for weather around the US and go to that airport in the game and have the weather match. I guess I don't understand what ASG is for. They are textures for what? Some of them are for great scenes at dawn or dusk. Some of the clouds are quite cool. How do I see them in the game? Thanks for the help. This support really is appreciated!!!!!Byron Gier

Hi,ASG is a front end texture loader. It contains environmental textures that you can send to FS04 as long as FS04 is not running. Some include the cumulus, stratus, sky color, haze color, snow, raindrops, and taxiway lights. You make your selections and submit to FS04. FS04 will then use those textures AND the weather from ASv6 to produce the visuals. It is important to use the preview shots as examples only. Your screen will not end up looking the same. This is because the weather conditions will be different than those used in the preview shots. Once you start FS04 and ASv6 it is the weather conditions that form the scene. If you choose a puffy culumus cloud texture and ASv6 has data for a cumulus cloud then that is the texture FS04 will use to draw the clouds.Hope this helps,Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/Active Sky V6 Development TeamActive Sky V6 Proud SupporterHiFi Beta TeamRadar Contact Supporter

That is very helpful. Thank you for taking the time to respond with such detail.I think I have two last questions.1) Is it possible to choose many themes/textures so that you cover many possiblities for the weather?2) For the dawn/dusk and other like themes, when I go into FS04 I have to choose dates and times that match and will bring about the use of those textures, right? Thanks,Byron

Hi,1. No, because all you would be doing is over-writing the same textures again and again.2. To see dawn/dusk, yes the time would need to be set to dawn/dusk. The date is not as critical except for those textures that are date dependant such as some sky color sets.Going to give you and your father a suggestion and you can try this out if you wish. Instead of going through ASG and hand-picking themes try this:Open ASv6.Go to Options.Under Graphics check the Auto-submit box.Click on the Full Sky Theme Browse button and browse to Random All and click on it.Do the same for the Cirrus Theme browse button and choose the Random Cirrus Theme. Then click on the Save and Close button. Now what will happen is that each time ASv6 starts with FS04 closed it will randomly select all the texture groups and send them to FS04. That way you will never see the same combination twice. And you do not need to go into ASG. Maybe you will like this option!Did you ever get more than just clear weather in FS04?Hope this helps,Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/Active Sky V6 Development TeamActive Sky V6 Proud SupporterHiFi Beta TeamRadar Contact Supporter

No I never got anything but clear weather. But that was because I thought ASG would give me weather and on-line update of ASv6 were off. I have not been over to my father's to try in a couple days. I will try your recent suggestion as well as themes with on-line updates of weather. Thanks for all the help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Byron Gier

We are having another problem. After configuring weather or using on-line updates for weather in ASv6, we go into FS04 and then "Fly Now!". Once the sim starts, it takes about 2-3 mins for the weather to take effect. We get the correct METAR string across the top of the screen but the ATIS does not reflect the weather for a while. Slowly the graphics change and then eventually the ATIS matches the METAR(but not precisely, its usually a little off with the direction of wind or altitude of clouds, but its close). Why is the weather delayed and why does the weather not exactly match the METAR string?Byron

Hi,Depending on the speed of the computer it can take up to 5 minutes on initial start-up, so you are OK. Try with both throttling options disabled. There is always a bit of randomness with the data. This simulates real-world situations where the METAR is not always exact. Also, the winds are reported in true direction in ASv6 and magnetic direction in FS04.Hope this helps,Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/Active Sky V6 Development Team Active Sky V6 Proud SupporterHiFi Beta TeamRadar Contact Supporter: http://www.jdtllc.com/AirSource Member: http://www.air-source.us/
