June 10, 200619 yr GiddayI have/use ASV6 ActiveSky. When taxiing in wind, the wind often has unwanted [by me] affect causing erratic taxiing performanace, swinging side to side. Are there any settings I can use to eliminate this *without* taking away the wind during a takeoff or landing roll?If not, whats the recommended setting for enjoyable performance? If I Use the Limit Surface Wind Speed option and set the value to zero, do the winds 'all of a sudden' 'kick in' on wheels up?Cheers!
June 11, 200619 yr Hi,I have a few questions:Is this during taxiing or during takeoff? You mention both.If this is during takeoff are you into the wind as much as possible?Default FS04 planes or add on planes? If you use FS9 weather does this occur? Is there a "G" in the winds data? That stands for gusts. What controller are you using?Hope this helps,Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/Active Sky V6 Development TeamActive Sky V6 Proud SupporterHiFi Beta TeamRadar Contact Supporter
June 11, 200619 yr >Hi,>>Is this during taxiing or during takeoff? >Default FS04 planes or add on planes?>What controller are you using? I get 'swayed around' both during TAXI and Takeoff by the wind. A direct headwind isn't too bad, but a slight or greater side wind moves the aircraft around and requires constant correction. It's unrealistic but I accept that its probably a limitation of FS9.On takeoff, as speed increases, it gets increasingly hard to 'keep straight'Aircraft is LevelD, controller is Joystick (no independant rudder control). I think reading other posts that the solution is to turn OFF winds on the ground, but then you [well I] would still prefer the wind for takeoff, but don't really want it [wind] affecting my taxiing. So, what are the recommended settings to limit this effect?ThanksCheers!
June 11, 200619 yr Hi,Try a limit of 5.Hope this helps,Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/Active Sky V6 Development TeamActive Sky V6 Proud SupporterHiFi Beta TeamRadar Contact Supporter
July 8, 200619 yr This is a FOLLOW UP:Thought I'd better add a follow up to this. Seems the problem with violent shifts during TAXI *wasn't* wind related. The problem was caused by a USB joystick beginning to fail. The prompt reply and support provided was appreciated!Cheers!
July 8, 200619 yr I recall the behavior being present all the way back to FS98. The aircraft wants to turn into the prevailing wind.Marty
